really? Go on.

Ben 12-17-2007 02:35 PM

STB will make a difference if the chassis is also beefed up.

fmowry 12-17-2007 02:43 PM

They're also good for mounting nitrous/fuel solenoids on.

I know the miata is pretty stiff as it is, and they make no difference on our cars. But I was thinking of using it as a towel rack actually.

compared to a rusted out TR6, I'll agree. A Miata handles well DESPITE the sloppy chassis.

When I had the STB on my car it seemed to reduce vibration in the front of the car. I've since taken it off and installed FM frame rails ... better much better.

XxGoKoUxX 12-17-2007 03:06 PM

ehh.... i dont think i wanna be thinking of flying miata or a miata at that while i'm taking a shit

Just what I have been hearing for the last year or so. People have been telling me its not noticeable. I would like to try one personally before I make a definite conclusion. 27 bucks on ebay, i bet its just as good as the bar on that page. Something I may consider.

SamS 12-17-2007 03:09 PM

I just got one for an Accord for $20 shipped on ebay for a towel rack. I never have a place to put wet towels in the garage after washing cars, and if I can't find a place to put it, it's made for one of my buddy's cars.

I'm not doubting that the bar won't do much on a Miata, I was just commenting about your thinking a Miata is stiff as is.

If you just want one as a towel rack, pick one of these up. http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c....category.16/.f

$5 for most. :bigtu:

Ok im confused, so its not very stiff, just manages very well the way it is?

Braineack 12-17-2007 04:46 PM

strut tower braces don't do much for shock towers.

Suddenly everything makes sense! :)

Correct. It's floppy like a wet noodle. But that doesn't mean it can't handle well.

Ben 12-17-2007 06:13 PM

Put a floorjack under the car and stick a corner in the air. The car bends like a wet noodle.

Bryce 12-18-2007 12:25 AM

This is where seam welding and butterfly braces come in!

The_Pipefather 12-18-2007 10:14 AM

Pardon my ignorance, but I've heard FM sources a lot of their stuff from China. Is this true? Not doubting their quality, but having gotten a quote on some parts from that country, I think they make a nice buck or two with that strategy.

Saml01 12-21-2007 09:59 AM

So what do you guys think, should I get one or invest the money into something more useful?

Bryce 12-21-2007 10:02 AM

Apparently the money would be better spent elsehwere.

drewbroo 12-21-2007 01:06 PM

only difference I noticed with my STB is that going over railroad tracks and pot holes is alot less painful. (I also have PPF bracing and a Koni/ GC suspension.)
