hey guys, i recently picked up one of these from a friend. he had it on his subaru, so it has the subaru flange on it still with a plug fitting.

its a 1st generations hks ssqv with the adjustment nut on the back of it. (2nd gen being the one without the nut, and 3rd gen being the one with cooling fins on it). I also replaced the sound fins with a newer set. the old ones were a bit rough with the chrome paint coming off it.

i thought i try here for a few days before sticking it on ebay.

here are some photos. its a bit scuffed up, but works perfectly fine.

why does it need sound fins?

 

In the op's second pic it shows the fin...kinda looks like a peace sign. You can run it without it, but doesnt sound as cool

 

yea the sound fins are suppose to change the sound or something. the original fins are a high pitched sound. with them out its more of a swoosh. and they sell a purple fin or something thats suppose to sound different then the other two.
