FS: Custom 1.6L Intake Manifold
I'm thinking about putting my setup back to where it was at the end of 07, less big, more street (stock IM, smaller IC, possibly smaller compressor). I don't have the motor to really justify the IM, as I'll never have the balls to run more than 230rwhp.
This was welded by Tim over at BEGi, I came up with the design, provided parts and they made it happen for me. It utilizes the stock TB but due to clearance issues the stock FPR cannot be used, The throttle cable bracket was welded in a bad position, so a new one needs to be fabricated or you shorten your cable and attach a new cable end. |

probably never. I'm always going to be limited with the stock motor, I'm happy with the 200-230hp range, theres no reason to have some of the equipment I have for a semi DD street car that sees a few autoxes and maybe a track day a year.

I removed it today. I had to retain the FPR because I couldn't find my OEM one. I'll include the vacuum block I was using however.

It did increase spool time a few 100 rpm, but also increased his top end. All as expected.

so tempting.....should work nicely with my rebuild head with some work and hks cams.....but i also don't have a FPR just the stock one.....

If I can get a new FPR I'd be happy to send the adjustable one off with it. I just gotta find/source it.

well there you go. I'd be happy to sell it for $375 shipped with the FPR and the vacuum block. Of course I couldn't send the FPR until I have a replacement.

This is what I wrote to Viper, I still have no payment.....so. When I drove to the dyno I completely destroyed my diff, I drove on the higway for two hours with no fluid in the rear. It sounded like death. So when I finally got on the dyno my turbo spooled weird and I could tell something was wrong, the results were still promising. here's the before and after: http://boostedmiata.com/dynos/intake...are_boost1.jpg No other changes to the setup, but the IM, were made. You can see I only hit 10psi then it slowly hit 13 at redline, but I made the same power up top with less boost. No signs of torque drop. Since I fitted a new differential it felt awesome. My problem being, it slowed the spool-up about 300rpm from before. Coupled with my heavy use of the a/c, it was enough that I wasn't happy with the compromise and I have since decided to downgrade my system further and making the setup more street friendly. Like my thread states, the stock FPR cannot be used, it just wont fit, and a throttle bracket needs to be fabbed. My solution was I bent an L out of aluminum and bolted the stock bracket further back. I wasn't willing to cut the cable and shorten it. If i had a built motor I'd keep it, but I've always been happy how the setup was prior, and decided to go back and be more competitive racing mopeds on the street. most of the build progress can be seen here, including my throttle bracket: http://s46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...fold%20Design/ |
