Here's the thing...

post count limits prevent random unknown people from signing up, posting ads, and running away with peoples money before we know who they are.

post count limits also identify those people above by showing the "show posts by username" screen with a bunch of low-quality posts all within the span of like 5 minutes followed by a for sale ad. it's an easy filter to help weed out the problem users.
