Seems he (they?) target WTB threads, generally try and try to pass you off to another person who has what you want. Have been a feature(?!) on the local forum here. This thread recounts the response to one user's search for some rear doors for his MX5/Miata

Giveaway is very recent registration (often same day), lack of post history.

Yup they target WTB thread, I just fell for one;
Crap; Used my personal email to respond back; I just joined the forum yesterday and as a newbie the message was too convincing and I fell for it.

The email goes along the line of:

You should communicate with [NAME], He has a NA Randall Intake for sale in Good condition... Get hold of him on (EMAIL)

[name] has a NA Randall Intake that he wants to part out for a cheaper price but because i'm not in the state right now, i couldn't purchase it from him maybe you should email him and see if he still have it for sale. Here's his email (EMAIL)

 

If they send you a PM, you can report the PM and it makes it much easier for Admins and Mods to find the user and ban them.

 

yes! this is the best way. please report the actual PM so we can just ban these spambots without searching
