holy crap, that flapper isn't even touching in the same time zone, I can't believe it could be that far off, something is not right there, wow!

Good: It lays flat
Bad: It sits very similar to ditch's pictures above and will not cover the hole.

Link below. It has a different flapper arm than what's pictured which is why I bought it over others but w/e it just didn't fit so I'm returning and trying a different one. We'll see what's wrong with the next one.

I'm thinking about trying to bend it, not like it's a very expensive part so may be worth taking a chance, maybe heat where the arrow is in the picture, make it nice and hot, then apply a heavy duty clamp to bend it more. Right now the angle is about 100 degrees, needs to be a little tighter to line up with the hole on turbo, needs to be closer to 90 degrees

@ditch Just make sure that the internal stop on the "axle" is flush with the housing. That'll be your best chance of not bending it and screwing up the fit- which may cause binding.

very good point, will do
I'm going to do this in the next day or two, will post my results, I feel that there is a risk of bending the shaft on the inside of the housing (where it goes through) and potentially causing binding, will cross fingers and see

My instance according to Lars was an issue I was the only one who encountered, the axle bit inside could slide in and out without my knowing. Sucked when I had my dyno time booked and we couldn't build more then 10.5lbs on the dyno because of that. Idk if you seen it in the picture but I cut a groove and put an e-clip on the piece so it couldn't slide in anymore.

It worked. I couldn't get a clamp on it so I just pounded it until it bent over enough. In the picture, the red highlighted portion was heated with propane torch until red hot, then positioned it on an old AC compressor (didn't have an anvil or anything like that), then pounded on the spot with the white arrow with a 2 pound baby sledge. Had to do it a couple times, was worried if I hit it too hard at once I would go too far, can't fix it if you bend it too far over. It did take some good solid swings with the hammer. The second picture shows where the flapper seats now (greased it to leave mark on turbo). Still not perfect, but at least it's going over the whole hole now (see my above post to see where it was seating before I pounded it over). The top part of the hole has only about 1mm of overlap with the flap, wish it had a bit more but I'll have to live with it. I can now port in the direction where there is extra material to remove (downward in the picture)

I have used several dozen of those without issues. I actually just took pictures of the whole porting process that I did for a customer recently before we installed the setup on his car. I used that adapter and had no major issues as far as I am aware. One of these day's once I get some time I will be getting to writing instructions for porting and the install.

I just meant that specific link not the device as a whole. It just fit poorly and didn't match the description on the page. Thanks for the response I could have been more clear.

Oh, poor QC perhaps or just user error? Seemed like bending it the way @ditch did would solve the issue. It dosen't line up with the wastegate hole like I am assuming it should so...

Not trying to step on toes, I'm totally satisfied with my purchase and understand that any turbo kit is going to need a bit of resourcefulness from the installer.

This is the first I have heard of this issue and thanks for bringing it up. So it is something I will look into to see if I notice it on some other ones, or if just a one off error. I think I have 5 or 6 of those exact adapters right now on hand. I will be opening up a few turbo's later today to do some test fitting. Ultimately this is part of the down side of being on a budget and using ChinaChargers. Lots of little variations and such that can creep up.

Hey Lars, this is Dave, you delivered my kit in Brookston Indiana a week ago Sunday. Said it before but will say it again, was super cool to meet the guy who built the kit!

Concerning the flapper not lining up, I chalked it up to the fact that it's parts from China. Is no surprise that there are some that go out like that. No way to know it was going to be that way. It was easily correctable and I don't mind wrenching on stuff so I'm fine with that.

Update on my noise issue:

It's not the turbo. I swapped in the new CHRA, and the noise is still there. It's become a bit more pronounced, so I can hear it sitting in the driveway now without any wind noise. FWIW, that's 100% the correct CHRA to swap into that turbo.
