was there anyway to prevent this failure? i plan on doing this set up and would hate to have this happen. sorry for your loss

yeah, make sure your rod's little ends are not TOO tight. mine were but I installed anyway. brilliant, I know.

yes and no. no one will want a rear bar after you get the front.
