Default Ported BP4W head, Maruha cams, SUB, ST Springs + Valves

Howdy folks! After weighing my options I have decided to list for sale my 1999 Miata (BP4W) cylinder head. I have switched out this head for a similarly built VVT head. I have my eye on some parts so I need a little free cash to finance things. My loss is your gain.

Alright, on to the details. This head has seen a few miles - It was driven to FM and back and had a season on the car - Fewer than 7,500 mostly freeway miles. The head has been built with high lift cams and springs to allow sustained revs into the 8,000's aided by the higher seat pressure springs and the lightweight SUB setup and better breathing high-lift camshafts. COPs, harness and bracket are not included but are available for purchase. This would would make a great head for an NA screamer motor.

-Ported by BogusSVO of MiataTurbo
-Maruha 264*/264* 10mm lift camshafts
-Fidanza adjustable cam gears
-Supertech Light Double Springs (63# springs)
-Shim Under Bucket lifters (required for reduced base circle of camshafts)
-+1mm Intake valves (Supertech Stainless)
-+1mm Exhaust valves (Supertech Inconel)
-Bronze Guides
-New Valve retainers
-Valve cover has been cut for exposed cam gears
-Maruha timing cover fits over the gears and dresses up the bay nicely - A few minor defects; some blisters on the hotside and the throttle position sensor rubs against the coldside.
-Valve cover painted in wrinkle black

Pictures are attached, pardon the less than pristine state it's in in these photos as we have no heat in the garage right now. Assembly will come with the paperwork for the camshafts. Asking 2,800.

Where did the oil come from that has carboned up the exhaust ports?

Supertech valve seals or another brand?

I'm wondering how you were getting sync data on this - were you using a CAS? I was under the impression the cam sensor on the BP4W was on the front of the valve cover.

The head was driven to, tuned at and returned from Flyin'Miata so a lot of the carbon buildup is from driving to/from. Valve stem seals were requested OEM, installed by the machinist. I did not have any issues with burning oil from weeping seals which I am 99% sure is what you want to hear.

I was using the 94-97 cam angle sensor on the back of the exhaust cam. One could definitely use a 99 valve cover with an intact front sensor but they ultimately function the same. This sensor has the MiataRoadster Viton O-Ring to help prevent weeping.

Interested in the head, need to research piston clearance.

$2800 sounds like a really good price. A lot of work and $$$ goes into setting one of these heads up.
