Supertech forged pistons, used

These had been installed in my car by Trackspeed engineering. However, there was some sort of oil control issue with the car, and they were replaced with some wisecos by a different shop.

This is ALL I know about these pistons. Seriously. Everything.

After looking at pics online, it seems that if I clean some of the carbon off I'll be able to see the size of the pistons and such. I will do that.

The scuffing on the skirts is light, some of the lines you can barely catch a nail on but are very light scuffs.

If you need more/different pics let me know. I should be able to post pics of the cleaned off crowns on Sunday ish, won't be able to get to cleaning them before then.

I have no idea what these should be worth. I'm gonna start by asking $250 shipped. Feel free to make an offer.

Does trackspeed still have the work order from that order? If so, he can probably shed some light on what these are.

Any markings or part numbers on the pistons anywhere?

Cleaned the crowns. Can see the supertech logo, but nothing indicating the size. I do have the invoice from the original build, but it simply says "trackspeed engineering built motor" and "standard long block build with BE oil pump gears".

Should be standard bore size, but I can't guarantee that right now. I will try to get a measurement, especially if someone is interested.

Price reduced to $125. Would like these gone.

Am I missing something here? What engine are these out of?

These are out of my MSM engine. Should be stock bore but I cannot guarantee or confirm. Hence the ridiculously cheap price of $125 shipped.

supertech doesn't make a standard bore. stock bore on a 1.8 is 83mm

smallest supertech makes is 83.5mm so it's at least .020" overbore

can you post of pick of the top of the pistons so people can maybe guess what compression ratio it is?

I can measure them if you bring one to me ed.

never clean pistons with a metal brush
for best results, use a solution of degreaser and a bit of water and le tit sit for about 3-4 hrs. the degreaser will eat up all the carbon build up and you'll end up with amazing cleaned pistons as if they were never used....

there's nothing wrong with cleaning the tops with a brush

I clean EVERYTHING with a metal brush.... even my teeth...

as long as it is not metal..it has to be plastic.

on a drill preferably.

the soft aluminum will scratch with metal brushes...that's why you cna see the swirl marks on that piston.

seeing as how the pistons dont make contact with anything in there, i dont think the scratches will hurt too much.... BUT, if one were to have said Fiber brush, that would definitely be the choice thing to use...

Im not saying you are wrong by any means... from a shop/racing team standpoint, i could see how this would be an important-ish issue... but for general purpose, those scratches wont do much performance wise. And as for looks, i dont know about you guys, but i cant see my pistons. Maybe if i run a bad tune, and ALLOFIT, ill get to see them without dismantling the block... But im in no hurry to do so. lol

You do realize that what you just pictured will easily eat away at the piston, and I would argue that it would do it even more so than a soft metal brush or a soft metal wheel similar to that one, right?

Have you ever even tried it? You can eat away at a piston with anything if you're stupid enough, that goes without saying. I've actually used one of those when stripping an alum valve cover. It eats alum like nothing. Meanwhile I used soft metal wheels on pistons for as long as I remember and all came out perfect. Key is to be careful and do it correctly, which apparently OP or whoever cleaned those wasn't really careful doing.

A soft metal brush or wheel won't hurt anything unless you try to sculpt a penis into the piston dome with it.

A penis Domed Piston May allow for ALLOFIT....

I used one of these drill brushes to remove my old Head Gasket. Worked well, but you can totally eat away metal with one if you really tried. lol

i tried googling and remembering the brush's name and i couldn;'t

damn it.

but it is not that exact brush and yes, i agree, if you are stupid enough you can fuck it up even cleaning with with plain air! lol
