"thuper duper awethum pothum" FM/ABSURD/CUSTOM *uber spool* turbo setup

Hey all, I bought a turbo setup here almost two years ago now, and I've decided to go another direction with my car.

I bought the setup from Chilicharger, from this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/miata-par...rbo-kit-84683/
He himself bought it from 18psi, from this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/miata-par...o-setup-82263/

Kit includes everything listed and shown in those pics; I never got around to installing it (just fondled it).

I'm asking the same $2500 for it, including shipping (depending where you're located). Price is firm at the moment—don't need the cash to finance any other purchases, so not in a rush to sell.

Part of my plans for the kit included fuel injectors, so I'd bought a set of GT500 injectors from CJ Pony Parts, plus the requisite EV6 female-Denso male adapters, FlowForce 12mm tophats/extenders, and a set of Denso lower seals. I'd include all that for what I paid: $191.

Whoever buys it this time has to promise to actually install it

Good luck with sale, good street setup for a normal sane person.

If you could make that manifold cast, and magically change everything to V-band, I'd buy it right now. Way too many welds for me to crack, and bolts to back out.

Where's your sense of adventure? Live a little!

Chilicharger665 05-23-2017 09:32 PM

Holy shit I was just thinking about this kit the other day!

curly 05-23-2017 10:20 PM

Would install instantly. No funds however. Would LOVE to put my 3" Artech exhaust back on without it being 300dB.

Buy it back and run it!

18psi 05-24-2017 01:24 AM

this would be the perfectest daily driver setup. all the torque, all the time, enough to have a hoot, but not enough to bend rods.

that manifold was custom made, for G, by none other than TurboTimmah of ABSURDFLOW. Need I say moar?

Wow such a deal I'm actually tempted... but I'd have to re-cam and shim so boooo

EO2k 7/10/13. It's the last manifold on my spreadsheet actually. Wow, I haven't made a manifold in almost 4 years. Wow, no one has used this manifold is almost 4 years either.

Someone use this manifold please!

thumpetto007 05-28-2017 11:09 PM

Can you please post pictures of the parts you have? It would persuade me to waste more of my money.

Or have you already sold this?

Steve Dallas 05-29-2017 05:48 PM

Damn, I'm tempted to do something youthful, impulsive, and absurd, and try to figure out how to make this kit into a fast-spooling, low-boost, track-reliable setup. M-U-S-T. R-E-S-I-S-T. T-R-U-B-O.

[Looks for compressor map for that turbo.]

thumpetto007 05-29-2017 11:25 PM

^ You arent allowed to. Im close to having enough monies. Plus this isnt a track setup. This is a decent street setup.

Can anyone confirm that the downpipe included in this kit fits the stock midpipe on a 2001?

18psi 05-30-2017 12:05 AM

Yes.
And this can absolutely be a track setup: strong mani, check. inconel, check. everything else set up to take abuse, check.

...wait, I see what you were doing there :D

huesmann 05-30-2017 07:09 AM

Yes, I was going to have to buy an NA downpipe to make this work with my car.

Thanks for helping out with the sale, 18psi! ;)

freedomgli 05-30-2017 11:48 AM

I thought you had to have a cast manifold to reliably track your turbo Miata?

EO2K 05-30-2017 01:24 PM

Hey! I know that manifold!

I honestly slightly regret selling it. Its sale caused me to spiral into my current oblivion.

huesmann 05-30-2017 01:28 PM

Luckily for you it's for sale again!

Up until the TSE manifold came out, Absurdflow was the absolutely best you could get. Then I would say Artech. I would personally still take an Absurdflow/Artech manifold over any other cast manifold besides the TSE one.

TurboTim 05-31-2017 10:36 AM

Thanks Larz!

Abe@ARTech and Matt@Hellafab both produce great manifolds, and they look prettier too!

If this manifold was to be used on a dedicated track car, bouncing off the rev limiter on banked straights like Sav does, I would recommend some gussets overlapping the welds. Or just run it and fix/gusset the cracks when they form; fixing weld elbow manifolds is relatively simple, not so for most cast manifolds.

Often you don't even have to pull the manifold off the engine :D

thumpetto007 06-03-2017 05:45 PM

So does this come with an intake? or just the heat shields for an intake?

Does this fit the oem midpipe?

Still unsure what model years this kit is for. I have a 2001 with A/C.

Leafing through the various for sale threads, it seem this will fit an A/C car, but still not sure about total fitment, intake, or stock exhaust compatibility.

Another PM sent.

huesmann 06-03-2017 06:18 PM

Supposedly the fit is for an NB. I was going to have to get the additional parts to make it fit my NA and hope I could sell the NB-specific parts (AFAICT the intake heat shield and downpipe). EO2K and 18psi should be able to answer any other fitment questions.

Steve Dallas 06-03-2017 08:04 PM

Just buy this already, so I don't have to.

thumpetto007 06-03-2017 08:46 PM

Go for it man, my final offer was shot down. I'll just go with a brand new MKturbo setup, or FM setup.

Sold locally.

TurboTim 06-27-2017 10:13 AM

So no one on here? Just for my records.

huesmann 06-27-2017 10:26 AM

He may be on here; but I wouldn't know his handle here.

muthagoose 06-28-2017 01:08 AM

Hey yeah new owner Zack here! This will be installed finally.
