TII Transmission Adapter plate for miata!!!
9 Attachment(s)
It's been talked about forever and ever and Here they are, adapter plates to put a TII transmission onto a miata motor. TII transmissions are significantly larger than stock miata boxes and are documented to hold well into the 400-500whp range. I broke 2 miata transmissions with 200whp.
https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 CAD Designed, CNC machined, made in the U.S.A. Plates are laser scanned and converted into solid works and CNC machined for a quality, final product. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 $450 SHIPPED in the CONUS with the plate and hardware you need (Plate to motor, trans to plate, and starter.) https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 Stock miata parts used: miata slave cylinder, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, 5 speed starter What you need to buy: NC miata clutch disc. (1.8L clutch/flywheel only) (replacement discs are CHEAP) Turbo II transmission Custom Driveshaft (I recommend Shaftmasters (aluminum) but local driveshaft shops are usually capable) What you need to make/modify: Space out stock FC clutch fork with 2 washers (make up for plate thickness) PPF solution (Differential mount/transmission mount, Adapting Trans to accept PPF) (several roadster owners have documented solutions to this problem already) Notch V shape in bellhousing to accept miata starter https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 Not for dog box transmissions, do not put plate on your dog https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1364257385 PM me with any questions, inquiries, or if you just want to buy this and stop worrying about transmissions. |
I was under the impression that you could put the Miata bellhousing on the TII box and you wouldnt need an adapter plate, but I must be misinformed
Very nice work |

Not for dog box transmissions, do not put plate on your dog GLWS(s) |
If I didn't already buy my clutch I might be interested.
GLWS |
Nice part. Good to see you made some for others...I wish I did not sell my TII trans.
|
You'll need to cut off the starter portion of the TII bellhousing because of the lack of exhaust / downpipe clearance in the miata.
The RX-7 TII slave will fit without having to cut into the miata frame rail as you do if you keep the stock slave. |
Why would a stock slave interfere with the frame? It's on top of the bell housing

TII tranny into Miata!! The bleed nipple on the Miata slave points to the left of the engine bay while the RX-7 slave points up. |
Pretty good stuff! It is a bit on the steep side as far as pricing though. Doesn't look like you have any dowels for the plate to transmission side, is that correct?
|
What did YOU do for the PPF? This swap does interest me, as the TII tranny gives me gearing I like when used with the 3.9 rear end.
|
^ Same question. I have seen some use a cut PPF that bolts to the trunk floor. My question is, how's the center console and shift boot after all this? Does it look stretched in 2-4-R?
How many of these things you got? |
I didn't. All the pics in the link above are your best bet.
I would get rid of the ppf altogether and run a trans/diff mount |
Nice man glad to see you finally got them done!! They came out great.

How many of these things you got? Concerning the shifting, when I shift into 2, 4, R, the miata boot is a little tight, but it doesn't interfere with shifting. I didn't have to modify the console at all. A keen eye can tell it isn't centered in the console opening, but it never bothered me. Shifter placement, at least for me is also right where I'd like it, ergonomically speaking. |
No one has bought a single one. Kind of surprised
|
I will buy one once I have a better handle on my finances (head work to get the car running and paying off my Daily Driver come first). I for one am not too keen on pulling my transmission every time I go have some fun and shear off gears lol...
|
Im about to ask if i can buy my RX7 back.... the trans was in great shape, and im sure i can sell the shell for what i buy it back for...
if i can, im definitely game |
I'd be interested at about $100 lower price point.
Just being honest, maybe that's why you haven't sold any. Everyone here is cheap, and $450 is more than half way to a 6 speed which seems to be an easier way around the issue... |
I know there are people who have broken 6-speeds due to too much power/not enough empathy. But they are few and far between. And the one I know apparently sold his before getting it on the dyno.

All Plates and hardware are ready to ship! Only 4 left!
|
DOWN TO 3!!!!!
Get em while they're hot! |
bump
|
Pro job for sure. You need to post up some larger pics- specially the shot where it's bolted up to the engine. To see the value in this piece, one only needs to realize how cheap these TII transmissions are. I'd venture to say this the "last transmission you'll ever need" solution for under $1k.
|
I'm guessing this is the only batch your going to make?
|
My friend made one of these from scratch for his set up. Cool to see a bolt on affair now.
Nice work |
As of now this is the first/only batch. Maybe others in the future with enough buyers interested, but the lead time on our hardware is a couple months, so they can only be produced so quickly.
All hardware is OEM quality or higher and generally difficult to source and not cheap whatsoever. |
Also, currently looking into making a custom PPF adapter for the TII trans, to help make it more "bolt on friendly"
|
bump
|
If you still have adapter plates please email me at chiquito1228@yahoo.com I can't send pm because am New to the forums or text me easier to get a hold of me 773-668-4857
|
Still have some of these available, if you're interested shoot me a message!
|
Bump!

currently no, the problem has been the little amount of interest to this point. If i could guarantee more sales with deposits or something of the sort I could work on this but it isn't an active pursuit currently

But it IS the case with the FD trans/ rear end (and RX8 trans, but the RX8 rear end sucks as bad as the Miata rear end). The FD PPF is on the wrong side (I think the RX8 is the same), which makes exhaust clearance non-existant, but if you were shortening the PPF, you could probably add some exhaust clearance while you were at it.

shdwconspiricy, is the input shaft longer/ bell housing shorter on these transmissions than on a Miata trans? Does the input shaft still drop into the pilot bearing correctly?

Yes but the FD rx7 diff wont bolt directly onto the miata subframe like the TII one will.
Looking at the googles, it seems to me that you could use the FC rear housing and FD front housing. I'm not 100% sure that they will bolt together, but they look the same. |

All of this is in the original post. Building a bracket wouldn't be too difficult to accept the PPF, just requires the time do do it. |
How many of these do you have left? Strongly considering doing a TII swap in the spring so would want to pick one of these up before you're all sold out.
|
3 left
|
this is a damn good part at a damn good deal...I cant tell you how shitty the stock miata tranny is I went through 7 in one year of competitive drifting with 300hp. If i was still in the miata game $450 would be a no brainer....dont be soo cheap people for great work and parts geared towards us small timers
|
Thank you sir.

one more sold,
two left and seen some interest! |
Any left? This adapts the Miata MZR I4 2L engine to Rx7 TII transmission, right?
|
Yes there are still some left.
These are only for 1.6L and 1.8L motors, I do not know if they fit MZR, but I can only assume they don't |

sort of an update.
This part from miataroadster makes this swap quite a bit easier, and I just saw it for the first time. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1398620601 These are rear hubs for miatas that will accept TII axles. So, you can swap in a TII trans and TII differential and have an easy axle solution. MiataRoadster rear hubs for RX-7 or S2000 axles - MiataRoadster - High-performance customer service...and parts for Roadsters This only leaves you needing to make a trans and diff mount and you can just have a stock TII driveshaft shortened. Hopefully there is some interest in these still. For all the talk over the years about how successful this swap would be only 3 people have purchased one from me. If you have any questions please contact me, Thanks. |
I still want one but it is always so far down the list of things that I HAVE to spend money on that it never gets done. Now on the other hand, the day will come when I destroy my factory 5-speed and you'll get a call...
|
Thanks a tonne for sharing that about the hubs on MiataRoadster! I was about to buy some TII hubs this weekend to have machined, saved me some time and money.
|
Are there anymore adapter plates for sell?
|
yeah we still have 2 left!
|
props for this, late to the party, but I too am surprised people didn't scoop these up...

Do you have any plans to produce another run once these sell out? I really don't need to be spending the money but if there are no further production plans I may pick one up and shelve it next to the Ford rear end subframe for when I inevitably destroy my stock 5-speed.

There is still one available
|
Have you still got the CAD drawing file?
If so would you be willing to sell this file, as i would like to get one made up locally (Australia). Email me at crimzon15@hotmail.com if you are interested. Cheers. |
Am I way to late ? Have any more plates been made ?
