What's the layback angle of the seats?

I'm about 20 min away in Milford.

Interested in the seats, local too. Let me know if the sale falls through

Adam was nice enough to list these parts on my and another friends' behalf.

The seats are 20° layback. The brackets are approximately 15° layback on top of that for a low head height for 6'0-6'2 drivers in the full rear position. The total angle is about halfway between a sports car and formula car. The angle of the brackets compensates for driver height so shorter drivers aren't much lower in the car. You'll notice in the images that the seat brackets are slotted, which allows shimming the front or rear to tune the angle within reason (some moment is applied to the bolt shank doing this). I'm 6'0 and my helmet is well beneath the roll bar with the 1'' hemispherical padding.

Miyamoto is taking a look at them next week. You're welcome to look at them earlier, but I won't sell them until he has had the opportunity to trial and buy them.

I should add: the driver's seat is centered on the wheel. I think the forward-most positions require some very slight massaging of the tunnel. This can be done with the carpet installed with a rubber mallet and towel.

No worries. I'm not interested in cutting in line.

I would like to take a look at them this weekend if possible. If for no other reason, to see how well I fit in an Ultrashield. I'm pretty sure I'd have to rework the driver bracket. I just barely fit under the broomstick with a fiberglass seat on the floor (no cushion) at a 37* layback. I'm 6'2", but all torso.

Did you make the harness bar yourself, or source it locally?

cwatson 07-13-2017 01:00 PM

The plates for the seat brackets and harness bar were laser cut at Superb Fab is South Lyon. The rest is DIY. If you just need a harness bar, the hard dog one is well priced. It made sense to go custom because the seat brackets were already being cut.

You're welcome to stop by. See PM.

Life is too short for inside wheel spin.

Go for it, Will!

Was any cutting/hammering done to fit these seats? I am looking at the same ones for my car in the future.

17" Ultrashields fit NB no problem- passenger and driver side. Driver side NA may require a hammer to the trans tunnel.
But you can probably use 15" or at worst 16" Ultrashields which will fir NA no problem. If you want to come down to Yardley, PA, you can test-sit in 17" and 16"

Some massaging was required to be both centered on the wheel and to be parrellel with the side plane of the car. The shoulder wings are bent in a little as well where they contact the door.
