Default OBD-II data module for all MS2/MS3 ECUs

We now have a module that will connect to any Megasquirt MS2/MS3* ECU and will provide OBD-II data through the CAN bus!

What does this mean for you?

You can connect any OBD-II reader to your Megasquirt and get OBD-II realtime data: RPM, TPS, MAP, coolant temp, etc!

This will NOT allow you to fake/pass emissions tests. Codes (DTCs) are currently not supported.

The following data (PIDs) can be displayed:

- RPM
- MAP
- TPS
- CLT (coolant temp)
- IAT (air temp)
- VSS (MS3 only)
- Timing Advance
- AFR**
- EGO correction (ie "Short Term Fuel Trim")**
- Barometric pressure (requires a baro sensor in your ECU)**
- Knock Retard**

With OBD-II on your MS2/MS3, the possibilities are limitless:

- Install a ScanGauge-II and view up to 4 parameters in a single, neat display
- Put a OBD-II bluetooth adapter on the module and view everything on your Android phone or tablet with many Android apps, such as Torque!***
- Datalog using any of the literally hundreds of devices that support logging of OBD-II data!
- Use gauges and dashes that don't support the MS CAN protocol but support OBD-II!

Preorder now at $129 shipped, the first units will ship on 07/01 - the price will be $149 shipped after 07/01!

* The MS1 ECU is not supported since it doesn't have CAN bus support.
** These features require a device that can read extended PIDs, such as the ScanGauge-II.
*** Our tests have generally shown that some bluetooth adapters are not reliable; not all phones/tablets will work with all bluetooth adapters; we recommend a wired connection to the ECU whenever possible.

Added knock retard to the list after getting a couple of emails about it.

Rev,

Before I place an order, can you answer how it mounts, size and connection to the ECU?

Is it a board or in an enclosure?

Thanks.

Brian

Comes inside an enclosure. Size is approx 85x65x20mm.

12v, ground, CANH and CANL to the ECU (on the db37 connector).

So I am also assuming that this thing can show just about any sensor output that an MS3x could log? I am curious because I have always been interested in the OBDII gauges that would cycle through different sensor settings. This way I could have a single gauge that could show me almost any sensors output that my MS3x logs.

Not *any* sensor attached to the MS3; only what is mentioned in my first post.

I do have another product in the pipeline that will allow you to do what you want; PM me with your exact needs as this product is in the final stages of development.

Yeah, all of us vendors here should cancel all of our products and just stick to the good ol' Sebring M45 with a (p-p-p)powercard and no timing retard.

This. This times infinity. Ya'll need to chill

I have a feeling this and the other CAN product from MSLabs is a development offshoot from the yet to be released MS3-Übermensch? I'm impressed that Reverant is offering these products as "modular" upgrades for current units, so that we can all benefit from continued development rather than just replace all our **** all the time.

Again, mad props for the MSLabs crew bringing this stuff to market and making it ez-mode for us cavemen

Sweet, my dream of having a PLX multi-gauge is alive and well! The only other thing I could think of in addition to the list you have is oil pressure and oil temp. I guess I don't have to see those constantly though and can hide them in the radio surround.

Very cool of you to offer this as an existing module rather than just making us all purchase an upgrade cough hydra cough

I have already asked about oil temp and pressure and Reverant said he could add those.

I can definitely add them, however your OBD-II reader/gauge needs to be able to read custom PIDs. For example the AFR and Knock Retard (KR) PIDs are custom, not defined in the ISO standard for OBD-II.

Ah never mind, the PLX gauge doesn't do oil temp/pressure anyway. Probably for the reason you specify.
