Hey guys,

Please don't flame me - I have searched all 7 pages of this forum and have still have some basic questions. I will just list them and if you can answer any it will be appreciated as I am having hell with the MSPNP I just recently purchased and installed.

1/ I am having trouble finding the relation between Mega tune and Tune studio. Do they co-operate or do you use one or the other? Where can I find the latest versions and is the Freeware/lite version good enough to achieve the best outcome? I one version more compatible then the other?

2/ High res code - is there a way to tell if you have the high res code and if not where can you get it from. I has a 90-93 so from what I have read it comes with the low res out of the box.

3/ What are the most fundamental upgrades needed to make tuning as easy/ simple as possible? What do you guys use to get the MS to where you need it to be.

I am in Australia and not many tuners like MS here, I have spent over $1K trying to get this to run right and it's still not 100% The only tuner who has agreed to try and tune it has said it is the worst computer her has ever used and shamefully I don't know enough to be able to alleviate that. I am hoping if I can get him the best software it may make his job a little easier.

They are separate programs and you can use one or the other. MegaTune can be less noob-friendly, but the MSPNP's pre configured MegaTune copy takes care of most of the issues.

It won't have hi res code unless you put it there yourself. You may want to try it later, but at this point in the game, you'll probably want to master the basics of tuning first.

For tuning the fuel, you'll generally want to shoot for around 11.6-12:1 under full boost, 12.5:1 at low boost, around 13:1 at 100 kPa, and 14.7:1 or leaner at around 50 kPa. The spark timing will need to be set on a dyno to whatever makes the most power without knocking. The base map is conservative, so just add advance until you don't get any more power.

Beyond that, draw up a list of specific problems you're experiencing and see if you can get them solved one by one rather than trying to go off in all directions.

Tuner studio is far superior to megatune IMHO. VE analyze live is ftw. I think it was worth the 40 bucks i paid.
