1.6 or 1.8?
i have read about peoples cars that all seem to be pretty fast with both motors. should i build a 1.6 or covert to a 1.8(money) and build it. runnig higher boost is it that much of a difference with them?
1.8 will have better off boost performance, better spool and a higher power potential.
"There is no replacment for displacement".
However, you can build a 1.6 car that is SCARY fast. Before doing a swap of a 1.8 I'd sell the 1.6 and find a 94+. That way you get the better rear and brakes in addition to the 1.8 motor.
In my mind I wouldn't swap in a 1.8, I'd rather build on the 1.6.

if there's nothing wrong with your 1.6 then boost it, if there is then it might be a good time to swap in a 1.8. on similar setups the 1.8 seems to make about 20 more hp and better low end torque.
Just boost the 1.6 it has more lively cams and just feels like more fun. Both motors are very strong, but the rear end is the biggest advantage breaks cna be had for cheap, from Goodwin racing etc for about 130 $ a set, suspension is essentialy the same,
