Any successful BEGI Shanghai installs?

I've read all of the Shanghai threads here, Miata.net and everywhere else but I've yet to see anyone running and driving correctly aside from BEGi's 10month tester (of which I simply saw mentioned on the BEGI site). I'd greatly appreciate if those running around with them happy would come out of the woodwork :)

crashnscar 08-17-2009 06:18 PM

Probably not, because with Begi, the parts either don't come or don't fit. Either way shitty and means you don't have a turbo Miata.

You didn't search hard enough.

I may be new here but I'm not new to using forums :)

I've already read all of these + any china charger / chinese turbo related threads:

I'm about to order the Begi Shanghai-S kit. Speak now or forever hold your peace

BEGi Shanghai-S Installed but Overboosting

Anyone Using The BEGI Shanghai Turbo Systems

Just ordered a Shanghai-S for my NB. Ready to Boogie XD

Shanghai-S install, can't reach a nut in mani!

Shanghai Systems Now Availalbe!

So is anyone running the Shanghai-S yet?

Seems to me like there's one or two stuck in install or tuning, one with a chinese turbo blown after two weeks and a lot of talk and speculation. Then there's tyson87 who appears to have a modified setup (fuel), but I've searched his posts and can't find much about the kit. That's why I'm wondering if more have used them and not started threads about them.

Wow....good searching!

Would those with the kits either update their threads or chime in here for this capable mt.net newb...

Modified fuel setup? Did you see his dyno #'s?

Shanghai kit - turbo = S1 kit

Therefore you can deduce that anyone running a regular begi kit can share their experiences with you. As far as the turbos are concerned there has been no failure that I've read about to date since introduction.

I don't recall for sure, but I don't think it's the fueling as shipped (the FMU only). I want to say he made over 200rwhp on a mustang dyno.

Yes, that is correct, however, the turbo is probably one of the most important parts of this type of kit.

No skin off my back, as I've already ordered one, but the links I posted were all I had to go on (and that was enough to order it). Just looking for others who have done it. I did get a few responses on Miata.net from some folks that seemed happy so far.

Braineack 08-18-2009 09:49 AM

They are just too new to get any good data about the turbo. So far so good. I put an ebay turbo on my own setup a few weeks back and I was fairly surprised with it.

i love my kit,

i do have MS, fuel pump, and bigger injectors.

there are plenty of ppl running around with ebay turbos now.
tons of honda/acura guys, probe guys, and miata guys.

Excellent. Thanks for your feedback! :)

I'll be honest, I don't think I would buy the turbo from them. Find out how much less it would be without the turbo, then check prices on egay. I paid $300 shipped for my 2871

China charger, same as what comes with the Shanghai kit except a 2871.

Did you ever figure out if the first one blew seals because of BB without oil feed restrictor? Makes me think your new journal bearing won't have any problems.
