BEGi bypass valve VTA

Soooo, this may be a little rice buuuuutttt, i have my bypass valve venting to atmosphere. I do have the mspnp so im map based. Are there any downsides to it? I mean, it does have air blowing out of it at idle.

it sounds pretty sweet though.

If your worried about the engine sucking in dirty air from the BOV,just put a small K&N filter on it.

its not sucking in air, its blowing out. is that normal?

Yes I am serious.

FM use to supply the small K&N filters for the BOV as part of the turbo kits.

but if it blows air out, whats the worry?

UrbanSoot 03-18-2008 12:28 AM

id put a filter on it

jayc72 03-18-2008 12:41 AM

Chances are it'll leak at idle and suck in unfiltered air.

at idle it is open, but air is blowing out of it.

Some people are just ---- about the fact the engine might suck in unfiltered air.

Ummmm ... are you sure about that? Where is your BOV located?

wes65 03-18-2008 01:01 AM

the bov is right before the TB. and yes, when the throttle is closed, there is vacuum that opens the valve and the turbo is blowing air through it.

This my just be me being stupid, but you might just be leaking mad boost, i did that to my aunts evo because she wanted the sound and then she complained about it being slow, tested it with a camera inside the engine bay(a bit daft i know, but cool video, ill upload it some day), sho'nuff it was VOMITNG boost like it was going out of style. i know some are bypass and some are blow off but if it came intended to be used as a bypass, i dun think u can use it vice versa

Translated into Dutch on Babelfish, and back to English:

This my only is me that stupid is, but you crazy increase only are able leak, did I that to my tantesevo because they the sound wants and then they concerning complained that, tested it with a camera within the crazy motorbay(a beetje I know, but cool video slow am, sick upload one or other day), sho'nuff were increase VOMITNG if it assumed style. I weet what is traffic diversion and what are blow away but if it came planned for are used since a traffic diversion thinks, I thinly you can vice-versa using

God it's late. I'm getting delirious.

well, its closed when the throttle is open so, im going to say im not leaking boost. It sounds like you dont understand what kind of bypass valve im talking about.

Bryce 03-18-2008 01:28 AM

You wouldn't happen to have a teeny tiny turbo with an AbsurdFlow exhaust that makes boost at idle would you?

wes65 03-18-2008 01:29 AM

i have a gt2860rs with stock exhaust(i know stock exhaust right, im broke lol)

edit: gt2860rs

jayc72 03-18-2008 01:30 AM

Your turbo isn't pushing anything at idle, the engine is sucking. Creating vacuum ....

wes65 03-18-2008 01:34 AM

hmm... i think i may see the problem here, i didnt have the idle air tube hooked up, that would mean that the motor was not sucking idle air through the piping but from outside, therefore making a little bit of positive flow in the piping. That also means it was sucking unfiltered air.

That would make me feel better i KNOW that there was air blowing out of the bypass valve.

Bryce 03-18-2008 01:35 AM

But you're sucking in unfiltered air through your idle air tube...
