BEGi S1 Kit to arrive soon
After a long wait, BEGi is supposed to finish my S1 kit on Friday so hopefully i will be receiving it in the following week(i would think, I'm not sure how they ship). I have injectors and an intercooler on the way. Is there anything in particular i should check in the kit when i get it? I know that people have been having problems with the o2 sensor placement but i spoke with Stephanie and she says that she was trying to get it at the 12 o'clock position so hopefully that will be okay. Anyway, enough rambling i guess I'm just looking for suggestions for when i get the kit as this will be my first turbo car.
Thanks in advance, Wes |
Use a new exhaust manifold gasket, get some antiseize to use on your studs and exhaust bolts. Start pulling the car apart i guess.
Have they sent you the instructions ahead of time? If not ask stephanie for them so you can go over them and see if there are things that need to be moved or taken off ahead of time. |
I'd skip the exhaust manifold gasket, I doubt that it'll be an issue. But I like to take risks like that.
good idea! I sent her an email maybe she can send me an electronic copy. Does the quality of the exhaust manifold gasket matter? for instance, if i just went down to autozone and got one would that be okay?
If they have them go for it. Mine doesn't stock them, they have to order them.
well, if i have them order it, it should be in by the time i need it.
i used my stock gasket
buy some oil buy some heat wrap for the hoses that go to heater core ummmm boost gauge? hmmm im on a role lets seee ull think of shit as u put it all together and go wow, y didnt i think of that b4 |
haha yeah, the kit comes with a boost gauge, and heat wrap, i do need oil and a filter though.
Things I did before going turbo (Greddy) that might apply to you:
- Thermal coated the turbo housing, manifold, and downpipe - New high pressure PCV (I got mine from FM) - Electric fuel pressure gauge (for the AFPR) |
high pressure pcv.... thats what i need.... i think im going to put a breather and a plug for now... then eventually get one from a dealer whenever i can make it to one.
oh and replace your fuel filter if you haven't replaced it in awhile.
i forgot the pcv valve, i did that too lol
Don't forget to cup the ballz.
Can use a 323GTX PCV....
Get mineral spirits if your tapping the oil pan. +1 for thermal wrapping everything Make sure you have zipties to hold things away from the hot areas, and some teflon tape for a good seal on the boost gauge. |
Actually don't use teflon tape. Most gauge manufacturers now recommend using thread sealant instead.
okay, so, now my shopping list includes:
PCV Valve Something to seal threads anti-seize extra heat wrap oil oil filter mineral spirits |
You'll need coolant too.
oh yeah, for when i lose some the coolant reroute. Good thinking!
