BEGi S1 Kit to arrive soon

After a long wait, BEGi is supposed to finish my S1 kit on Friday so hopefully i will be receiving it in the following week(i would think, I'm not sure how they ship). I have injectors and an intercooler on the way. Is there anything in particular i should check in the kit when i get it? I know that people have been having problems with the o2 sensor placement but i spoke with Stephanie and she says that she was trying to get it at the 12 o'clock position so hopefully that will be okay. Anyway, enough rambling i guess I'm just looking for suggestions for when i get the kit as this will be my first turbo car.

Thanks in advance,
Wes

Use a new exhaust manifold gasket, get some antiseize to use on your studs and exhaust bolts. Start pulling the car apart i guess.
Have they sent you the instructions ahead of time? If not ask stephanie for them so you can go over them and see if there are things that need to be moved or taken off ahead of time.

I'd skip the exhaust manifold gasket, I doubt that it'll be an issue. But I like to take risks like that.

wes65 02-13-2008 12:27 AM

good idea! I sent her an email maybe she can send me an electronic copy. Does the quality of the exhaust manifold gasket matter? for instance, if i just went down to autozone and got one would that be okay?

cjernigan 02-13-2008 12:46 AM

If they have them go for it. Mine doesn't stock them, they have to order them.

wes65 02-13-2008 12:49 AM

well, if i have them order it, it should be in by the time i need it.

urgaynknowit 02-13-2008 01:08 AM

i used my stock gasket

wes65 02-13-2008 01:10 AM

Things I did before going turbo (Greddy) that might apply to you:

- Thermal coated the turbo housing, manifold, and downpipe
- New high pressure PCV (I got mine from FM)
- Electric fuel pressure gauge (for the AFPR)

wes65 02-13-2008 02:12 AM

high pressure pcv.... thats what i need.... i think im going to put a breather and a plug for now... then eventually get one from a dealer whenever i can make it to one.

trito 02-13-2008 02:21 AM

oh and replace your fuel filter if you haven't replaced it in awhile.

urgaynknowit 02-13-2008 11:46 AM

i forgot the pcv valve, i did that too lol

samnavy 02-13-2008 11:48 AM

Don't forget to cup the ballz.

Newbsauce 02-13-2008 12:14 PM

Can use a 323GTX PCV....

Get mineral spirits if your tapping the oil pan.

+1 for thermal wrapping everything

Make sure you have zipties to hold things away from the hot areas, and some teflon tape for a good seal on the boost gauge.

trito 02-13-2008 01:03 PM

Actually don't use teflon tape. Most gauge manufacturers now recommend using thread sealant instead.

wes65 02-13-2008 01:54 PM

okay, so, now my shopping list includes:

PCV Valve
Something to seal threads
anti-seize
extra heat wrap
oil
oil filter
mineral spirits

FHS 02-13-2008 01:56 PM

You'll need coolant too.

wes65 02-13-2008 01:57 PM

oh yeah, for when i lose some the coolant reroute. Good thinking!

urgaynknowit 02-13-2008 03:26 PM
