On the td04h is there a way to turn the oil drain from a rubber return to a braided line? The speed shop by my house is only able to get braided line and this is one of only 3 parts to keep me from installing my greddy. Thanks.

 

to use a braided line, you are going to use -an fittings and adapters. if you are running the line to the pan, you need a NPT to AN fitting for the pan.

more importantly, you should get a threaded return that bolts to the bottom of the turbo in place of the stock greddy drain.
something like this.

if you are running the braided line all the way around the the motor, i wouldn't know where to begin.

What ever fitting you have a tap for i had more luck with a 60 degree angle fitting as it i didnt have to work as hard to get it all lined up and threaded. Thus giving me less stress on the fitting and less chance of laeks

 

Well I bought that adapter on the link above, and IT DOESNT FIT!!! Do they not make one available? should I get the holes plug welded and redrill? The problem is with the holes, they are too far apart. The drain part is fine. I need urgent help! I'm planning to do the install on saturday...

I did the same thing first time around- someone pointed me to a T3/T4 flange, and it's way too big. I wish people would stop posting links saying "For your TD04 you need something like this..." without adding "but not this exact one, 'cuz it won't fit."

(If anybody wants a T3/T4 flange, gimme $5 and it's yours.)

You need one for a GT25 style turbo. I have the exact one that jayc72 posted the link to, purchased from the same dude, and it fits perfectly. (well, mine is the 3/8" NPT rather than the -10, but the same on the flange side.)

 

My TD04 turbo uses a T3/T4 oil drain flange just fine...

 

not trying to be an ***, but "something like this" and "this is what you want" are two different things. posted links are for references. it's still upto you to verify it will work. usually a phone call will clear it up. sorry if my post was misleading to you, but it wasn't my intention. i was trying to show what the item looks like and perhaps i should have worded it better.

 

Dont worry, I'm not blaming anyone! My 2nd post was really misleading, sorry. This site has helped me out so much, I got started because of all the help. Its really my speed shops fault, I went in and told them I needed the -10AN flange for a td04H...and what I got was the one in the link. They should have figured out what they got was the t3 one before I paid. Anyway...
ALL IS WELL!!! I notched the holes, ground some washers flat on one side, got longer bolts and it fits! I'm reusing the gasket material from the old flange. All in all I'm pleased with how it works, as the -10AN is able to slip over the old tube, which means the fitting would most likly be too large anyway.
Thanks a ton to all of you guys helping me out, I know I've asked a bunch of newb questions and annoyed a few of you, but all your suffering is helping to put one more turbo miata on the road!
