Is it just me or does that wastegate look backwards? Seems like it wouldn't work that way.

Janky turbo looks janky though.

Looks like a weird old hung of junk.

Figure out what turbine inlet/outlet it has (t2 or t3 in, and "standard" or regular 5 bold out) and just get a replacement based on that.

Is that a heat shield on the compressor housing or did they just make the housing from a piece of pipe?

That's a weird one for sure. Do not use anything from China...worse track record for Mitsu clones than Garrett. You really need to pull the turbo off and see if the wheels are standard 14b pieces or not. If so, I'd just buy a known good 14b and swap the housings onto the chra/shaft/wheels.

Alternately, you could buy a rebuild kit off ebay and go that route. Or there's a guy on DSMTuners who has been rebuilding Mitsu turbos for years and has a good track record. He could probably do an exchange for a rebuilt one.

Also, I'll buy it from you for $50 shipped.

Go to junkyards, find manual transmission turbo '90-94 DSM (Talon/Eclipse/Laser) or Galant VR4 (good luck), pull turbo, inspect for play, buy it, swap housings.

Or contact this guy.
