It cant be that bad, this one looks like it was designed by CX Racing USA and its 11ga tube, which is between sch10 and sch40 for wall thickness and between 1 1/4" and 1/12" pipe for diameter. CX Racing USA kits are actually pretty kickass on other cars, especially v8s . I'm sure its ok and it'll probably last a few years before you crack it.

Yeah, that's about what my research showed.

It's cheap for what it is. I'm sure it would make more power than my ebay cast manifold. Whether it's a durable, who knows, but it's not the thin wall crap that's typically found on ebay and almost always ends with a crack. I haven't found anyone who's run this and posted about how it worked on their car.

I think I am going to subject myself to this manifold if my other sale falls through.

shuiend 12-14-2016 01:52 PM

Buying the full CXRacing turbo setup is on my to-do list one day. I want to check it out and see how well it works.

I'm not a fan of the intercooler kit as the piping that comes with it is meant to drill a hole through the fender..seems hateful to my poor fender.

I fully expect the full kit to not fit right and have issues. I also don't like that IC routing, It is more of a lets get this and try it, and see how well it all goes together as they ship it. Then make it work, get it on a dyno, and see what sort of power it makes.

I also think the turbo they supply is to big in general for the miata.

I am convinced that the existence of MKTurbo with the legitimacy of a company that can survive on mt.net, makes their kit moot. Especially since you consider the MKturbo set up is generally cheaper than the CXRacing+exhaust. Although I am somewhat interested in buying it just to see if it would hold together/preform.

Bigger compressor and same exhaust size as the mkturbo choice, so probably worse spool and not much gained. Wonder if the smaller T3 would fit their manifold and v-band set up.

Yeah when I first started MKTurbo I don't think the newer CXRacing kit was out, or had just come out. Theoretically the turbo's should swap fine between the two. Sonofthehill is running they turbo they supply on his MKTurbo setup.

As far as I have seen no one on here has bought their new setup to give a try. There was the one guy who made that shitty youtube was trying to run it on his NB. He had fitment issues that required welding to fix. I want to see if those issues pop up on the NA which is what it is built for. I also don't think it is AC/PS compatible, and I am interested in how their downpipe fits.

Overall the CXRacing might be slightly cheaper, but I will strive to make sure the MKTurbo is an easier install, fits better, and has real customer support.

I bought their manifold, will post pics and info when it arrives. Based on the pics it's gotta be better than the ebay cast manifold regarding flow and power. The runners point at the turbo instead of each other! I hope it fits with a/c and p/s, or at least is easy to make it work.

rwyatt365 12-14-2016 06:55 PM

I bought, and am using their T28 turbo clone, and so far it's held up just fine. That doesn't mean that translates to the manifold and downpipe.

In4pics and feedback.

I got it. It looks fairly nice, 8/10 based on initial inspection. Decent finish, fairly good welds, overall not that bad especially for the money. But...

1. Runner one hits the water inlet pipe/lower radiator hose.
2. Runner two hits the block
3. When I bolt an EFR 7670 on it, it pokes out above the hood skin by at least 1/4" (granted a smaller turbo would probably be fine, this thing is big)

I called CXRacing and sent them pics and described the problems. So far waiting to hear back, will call tomorrow. They did somewhat seem interested in fixing this so we'll see what they do.

Kind of thought about it, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I think they'll try to fix problems 1 & 2, but I dunno if they will fix 3. If not, lame. Plus who knows how long till I'd have a replacement manifold in my hands.

At this point debating on either modding this manifold myself to make it work, or just buy parts and build my own. Wouldn't mind making my own a I could do a better collector I think, and surely make it fit better. But that would take a week for materials to arrive easy, plus all the fab time. Or I could just cut/weld and fix this one in a day probably. Leaning on fixing this one just to get it done so I can move on.

If you can, let's test their abilities and wait on them to see what they are willing to do. Give them a chance to prove themselves in customer service.

And the best answer to the hood clearance is to just cut the hood. Run cold air intake through hood.

If they can't also move the turbo flange down so my turbo will fit, then I'm gonna skip them fixing it and do it myself. Fixing the turbo flange down some will be the hardest thing to fix as I have to redo the pipe between the merge and the T3 flange. I'm not gonna wait for days to get a manifold I still have to cut/weld to make work. Will call the tomorrow if I don't hear back by tomorrow afternoon.

Also not cutting the hood, and my intake is a bit different than your typical miata intake.

Me too.... My intake is in the back of the car.

Pictures of all the issues? I am curious to see them.

aidandj 12-20-2016 12:16 PM

Didn't @cordycord document all these issues. I remember seeing some adjustments he made. I'll try and find it.

cxracing cant "fix" manifold fitment issues. the manifolds are mass produced in china by the container load.

only thing they can do is send you another one, hoping it fits better.
