You should probably check out the derby. Sounds like a good time.

From now on, i'm calling every drift car "derby car."

You haven't done one in your car already?

THREAD RESURRECTION:

Did anybody actually end up purchasing the Cxracing turbo kit for the 1.8? Can we get a review on this thing please.

Pat tried the newest manifold. Said it required a bunch if Essington with.

Thank you for the hand holding but many of those seem like old threads. I will dig through them more for answers. I am mostly wondering if the t3 that comes in the 1.8 kit will have a lot of lag for a low boost setup (6-8psi). The t3 looks to be pretty small but I know even the smallest t3 is bigger than the smallest t25, so it looks like it would spool similar to the sr20 t25's many people use which would be perfect.

18psi 02-17-2017 11:46 AM

if you're looking for spool, you shouldn't be looking at chinachargers anyway

yossi126 02-17-2017 12:13 PM

Exactly. A genuine sr20 T25 is capable of 4 psi at 2000 rpms. I'm not sure a chinacharger even spins before 2200.

From my research I have gotten mixed reviews on the sr20, some seem to think it isn't a fast spooling turbo and others say it is. I would like something similar to the Gt2554r, since I will be doing a low boost setup and do all city driving. So a sr20 would spool quicker than something like this:
GT28 GT25 GT2871 GT2860 T25 T28 SR20 CA18DET Upgrade Turbo Turbocharger 400HP

ridethecliche 02-18-2017 02:22 PM

I don't understand why someone would build a turbo miata if all they do is city driving. That sounds miserable...

The results are that the manifold does not work well with PS/AC. It hits or comes close to several coolant hoses. It may require welding to fix parts of it. The routing of the IC piping is horrible and requires cutting up your body. The turbo is badly sized for the miata, as it is a bit to bit.

Wow thank you for your review! Just to be clear, you had the new tubular manifold with the t3 turbo for the 1.8l engines, correct? If so, you have saved me and many others from wasting money and dealing with that issue and we really appreciate it. It's great that there still are people on here who will leave an honest review with true facts from experience, rather than just giving an innacurate opinion and hating on something just because it isn't FM or Begi products. I had a feeling that t3 in the kit was not suited very well for the 1.8l and I don't understand why Cxracing would build a t25 kit for the 1.6l motor only and not for us with the 1.8l..... seems pretty odd to me.

I have not personally used the setup before. That is all info from other members here who have purchased various bits and pieces. Buying a full cxracing setup and doing a full review is on my to-do list, but way down it.
