Default Early BEGi kit

I recently picked up a fairly complete BEGi kit that uses an IHI RHB5 turbo. The kit is for the 1.6.

Other thank taking crap out of the box and trying not to get too much grease on my clothes, I haven't done anything with it yet.

I'll be doing an initial install with bandaids, but will move to a standalone and related upgrades at some point in the (relatively near) future.

Does anyone have any advice on the install or care and feeding of the kit?

I think this was the original 'system iii' kit, if that helps.

What do you mean by "fairly complete"? Pics of what you have?

Our advice is going to be the same advice we give to anyone, buy/build/barter for a MegaSquirt, get that running first. Get it tuned on. Dyno and it'll nearly make the same power as the bandaided 4psi setup you're thinking of running.

Find some rx8 injectors for ~$100, and together with the turbo setup you have, you're golden for around 200-225. And it'll be safe!

Somehow I suspected that was going to be the response...

Fairly complete as in, I might be missing a few hose clamps. or pieces of vacuum hose.

Did you check with BEGi (or Corky Bell directly -- he is not only a sponsor here, but often a participant)? They have some manuals online, but I doubt those go back this far. They may be able to send you a copy, however.

Well, Megasquirt is on the way, I've already got some 440 CC injectors.

I did get the original manual from BEGi, and it's an early S3 kit.

It looks to be in decent shape. What a surprise.

I would urge you look real close at the exhaust manifold. Somewhere between cracks, straight and details, it may need some reconditioning.

Call me at 830-885-2144, or email to cbbell@gvtc.com. Evenings are okay.

I'd be pleased to help in any way I can.
