FMII water leak
 

The silicone hose that came with the kit has failed due to heat on the water outlet(inside water line). FM says these hoses will need replaced every few years and its been almost 2 years since the install. I have just did a quick internet search high temp silicone hose but did not find really what I was looking for, I was wandering what brands of hose other people are using and to what success, has anyone found some magic water hose that almost never fails?

Stainless steel with properly crimped on fittings threaded on to AN fittings.

If I could find some banjo fittings that had a foot of hard line that I could bend to fit, that would get the hoses out of the super high heat area.

Yeah I guess, unless you have seen such a product. So far my search of the 10% of the internet thats not porn or gambling hasn't turned up shit as far as banjo fittings with lines that I could bend to fit.

I think I'll just replace the hoses with the same silicone that FM supplied, I have feeling this motor is coming out to get built in next year or two.

try to find an hydraulic shop near your town, i got the same fail last week.

I had the same issues with my NA and decided to stop wasting time replacing the soft lines and made my own braided lines. The cost was less than the FM or BEGi offerings. Basic rundown here: https://www.miataturbo.net/diy-turbo...t-lines-23366/

This info is from 2008, but the p/n's should still all be the same because I made a local member the same set of lines from this info about a year ago.

*edit* I just noticed you have an MSM, so you have and should use the feed port on the side of the block under the turbo. You can alter the above plan like I did for my '95 and use that port and then you'd use one tube fitting at the nipple on the hardpipe running back to the mixing manifold.

So instead of getting two tube fittings, get one and then order an M12x1.25 fitting to fit the block (p/n 991945 at the bottom of their page): http://www.anplumbing.com/Adapters/Metric-25.html Then you'll just need a male/female 6AN 90* elbow. (See bottom photo below)

FWIW - I had the same thing happen. I found this kit, bought it and haven't had another leak in 6 months (knock on wood).

The FM hard lines have directly fit the MSM setup however they can be made to, I'm not going to buy the hard lines this time. I like the stainless steel braided hose to barb fitting but I don't if I would trust that brand if they high quality I think that they would keep the the silicone hose far enough away from the manifold and turbo.

As is the silicone lines on my car lasted right on 2 years before the water outlet hose started to leak, that being said if you get a slow water leak from the turbo area replace the lines ASAP if had let it go that hose would have burst while driving down the road.
