Greddy installed today, mucho compressor surge?
After lurking on this forum and plotting for the past 12 months, I finally fitted a (used) Greddy kit to my '91 today. I've not driven it hard so far, in fact I've not been beyond 4500rpm, but I'm surprised by the amount of compressor surge I can hear. It's running stock boost, is this normal? If so, where do I plumb in a bypass valve (remember I'm using the stock plastic trunking)?
Thanks |
So you are not running a bov of any kind?
|
Yes that is normal. All turbos will surge without a bypass valve. You can install a bosch recirc valve on the intake tube, anywhere and recirc it after the AFM.
Go forth and search to find example pictures. |

on the expensive side, but solved all of my problems while i wait to install front mount its too cold to do it now, and its allways snowing and raining, this thing works great and install time was about 3 minutes, in freezing weather |
yeah you could get something like likesmennknowsit or simply a cheap $20 bosch/dsm BOV

If the BOV is sealed tight, he won't suffer any idling problem. The only down side is an rich shift point. |
What brand is the bov? turbosmart? I think you can get attachments on ebay or something with the necessary flange for 20 bucks or something.
|
im sure that crossover comes with the turbosmart bov already installed
