2 days later....
so taking that little rubber nipple on the passenger side is a bitch..... exhaust bolts were soo rusted on it was sheer luck that got them off but everything came together car is 92 miata xtd flywheels 9lbs clutch masters clutch, rated for 35% more grab or some crap greddy kit stripes pipes and front mount in mail still have no clue how to use the bipes acu, so it sits in my room i also have the o2 clamp, will put both on as soon as it gets warmer, like above freezing and when i fully understand how to install them, i know what they do, just dont know how to set them up the first picture i have, ill post more as soon as i get charge pipes and its not 15 degrees out... comment away Attachment 214795 |
yea that rubber nipple is a B word. took me like 30 minutes to get off lol. but congrats. i'm putting my stripes pipes and IC on today in about 2 hours.. and if you need any help on the bipes i put mine on myself and all that good stuff.

This may help with your Bipes install... you definitely want to get it in and working as a margin of safety. YOU DID RETARD YOUR TIMING ALREADY, RIGHT? THE CAR IS FILLED UP WITH 93octane, RIGHT!!!
https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4786 Once it's in and your IC is installed, you can bump your base timing back up to 14*. Initial settings for winter: Pull 7* total Start at 3000 1* additional pull for every 50*F When weather gets hot, summer settings: Pull 8* total Start at 2500rpm 1* additional pull for every 30*F Of course, you need to get it on a dyno and tune your fuel... perfect time to mess with timing settings. Pull a degree or less each pull until you hear knock and then back in 1*. If you start to hear knock after several pulls, heat-soak may be affecting your intake temps... just something to consider when figuring out how much timing to pull. |
What sam said, except, there is no tuning your fuel, it's an install it and go system.

samnavy - YOU DID RETARD YOUR TIMING ALREADY, - not yet, but i only pulled it out of the driveway and parked it, no boost, it started snowing, and hasn't let up yet,
but as soon as it lets up, ill be out installing IC pipes along with the bipes THE CAR IS FILLED UP WITH 93octane, - from the first day i bought it samnavy, i want to thank you and kill you at the same time but being a noob to this forum and to miatas, every little bit helps i feel im gonna fit right in Attachment 214786 did any of u have to lengthen ur o2 sensor wire? will any wire do the trick? also, the two tubes running to the (assuming) heater core, i def need to cover those up with something |
Any wire will work for the O2 sensor. The heatcore lines def need to be covered.
|
Seeing how you only mentioned the heater lines... You also need to heat wrap the dipstick (at least the plastic part) and the brake fluid reservoir.
|
yea, i only fired it up for a few to see if it idled and did all that fun stuff
and i looked and they seem really awfully close to the downpipe and that thing gets hot going to advanced right now to buy the heat resistant blanket shit and some wire |

also extended my o2 next on my list is time the dam thing and install charge pipes and front mount, (which i haven't gotten yet) |
You guys and your crazy left-hand drive cars :gay:
Watch out for brake lines, I melted thru one of mine cos it was too close to the downpipe... but i got a nice poisonous smoke screen every time i pressed the pedal:eek: lol!. |
definitely need a heat shield on the turbo, melting the brake master res sucks. also you can undo the clip that holds the o2 sensor wire onto the coil packs and will give you more slack
|
alright, i did a (exactly) 2 minute drive, i boosted once or twice,
and took it home i shifted no higher than 4500 for both boosted runs mostly at 4, and it was never full throttle i have some oil on the outlet of the turbo , what do u guys think? also, the oil pressure is at about 25-30 idling, but seems a bit high when driving about 70-75 and higher when in boost closer to 80? under boost it drives like na just concerned about the oil on the charge side |
Congrats on getting it running. Good call on the stripes kit, I just snagged one of the last sets myself.
|
Oil on the charge side? so you mean where the air exits the turbo ?
And how much oil? a few drops? thin film? or a river?! I guess that as the cam cover breather is vented into the intake pipe then you may get some oil in there, I know I do because I took the intake pipe off today. So it's possible that's all it is, just oil mist from the cam cover being put through the system? keep an eye on your oil level and usage. |
Oil coming through the breather could mean your pcv valve isn't keeping the boost out of the valve cover.
|
alls fine, i checked it today, cleaned it up
fired it up, drove around, no oil blow by stock cross over FTL cant wait for the front mount and 3 inch dp back all is well stay tuned for more |
Just out of curiosity, what nipple are you guys talking about?
|
on the pass side of the motor, where the stock greddy oil return goes, theres a nipple
right between ur alternator and a bracket, it sucks monkey balls to get off ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- btw, i got around to timing the car today, still waiting on my charge pipes, car is now at like 4-5 degrees retarded, feels like a slug below boost, feels awsome durring boost :) i think im def hearing compressor surge, for all you guys running the stock plastic cross over, do u get surge too?? the charge pipe has a bov ready, so hopefully the surge will be eliminated |
A small twist with the channel locks and mine came right off.
