Default just purchased 95 with BEGi-S (pics and ?s)

I flew out from OK to CA to buy this car on Saturday and then drove it all the way home. It's basically a stock 95 with the BEGi kit and magnaflow exhaust. It will be my daily driver/occasional weekend warrior.

I'll start with the pics

Since the car will primarily be my daily driver, I'd like to keep it as reliable as possible, while still maintaining a good bit of power. I read the FAQ and many posts but I'm having a tough time finding info for the 1.8s. Almost everything i read seems to pertain to the 1.6 only.

From the FAQ it sounds like if I stick with my stock ECU I'm pretty much stuck with the stock injectors because of my MAF. Is that correct?

Will race gas (unleaded 101) allow me to run more boost or will it only allow me to advance my timing?

It seems like the BIPES units are selling pretty cheap in the classified section. Should I even bother with the BIPES or should i go directly to something like MS?

I'll be purchasing a FMIC soon.

My goal is a car that will reliably give me about 8psi of boost. Right now its running about 5.5 psi with an occasional creep up to 6.5-7. I think that extra pound would be all the power i need for a DD.

For days when i hit the PCA or BMWCCA events I'd like to be able to get a little more power. On these days I'll be running 101 octane fuel.

What do you guys suggest? Thanks!

Bipes will help out your low end. but if your going with a intercooler your going might as well get injectors and ms and unleash 200+ hp. This will allow you to run lower boost for your DDing and when your up your boost for when your go auto crossing.
i dont think you need 101. theres plenty of people pushing more than enough on pump gas.
Thats a nice and clean ride!

I like those hubcaps. Seriously, they do look good on the car. Get MS, IC, and injectors.

i'm fine with the hubcaps for daily driving. It adds to the sleeper theme. Other people have given me crap for them but it's not that big of a deal to me.

How much better is the mspnp than a normal ms system. I think i read that braineak sells some pre built ms units. Is that true? What's the difference in what he sells compared to the pnp?

I believe his is not a "full" pnp. it does pretty much everything the pnp unit does but does not have AC control or idle control (not 100% about idle, correct me if im wrong). you can run it as a piggy back. with your stock ecu.

Just out of curiosity has any of the bracing on the underside of the hood been cut? When we installed the begi kit on my friends 1.8 there were some clearance issues and the hood bracing needed trimming.

No, the underside of the hood looks 100% stock. Where was it having clearance issues?

The hood was hitting on the crossover tube. I guess it is possible that his motor mounts raised the engine.

Injectors and MS, this will allow you to make a lot more power. Water injection or an intercooler should also be added. High octane fuel is a good thing, but in this case intercooling and megasquirt will take you to 12-15 PSI on pump gas and to the limit of what the stock transmission will handle without blowing up.

Not necessarily. The Xede runs with the stock ECU and MAF, but you can run up to 550cc Injectors and control timing.

Hope the trip home was uneventful!

Yes you have many options
MS via Braineack 550$
MS Pnp 700$
Exede 800$
Used link 500-800$
EMU 500+ $
So read up on what you want they will all do it, quite well. For the 1.8's most of the 1.6 tricks work just fine. GL man, and thank you for actualy searching abit before throwing the Q's out there and assuming we would hold your hand through it.
