Why would you ever put the turbo in the back. I'm not being a smart ass I really don't know. My friend and I were talking about this the other day. I know you get better cooling but if thats the point wouldn't you just buy a bigger ic?

My LT1 engine bay...

Installing longtube's on an LT1 car takes about 6-8 hours... JUST the headers. There's ZERO room in there especially for a big turbo. LS1's are build on the same chassis and offer a little more room under the hood in the exhaust areas, but not much.

Rear mounts for V8 cars work because you don't have to buy expensive turbo headers, your underhood temps remain the same as stock, and you can skip the intercooler if you'd like. In stock engine applications, you're only boosting 5-6psi anyway. If it weren't for the expensive ass oiling systems and the scare factor of your engine's oil being plumbed under the car where road debris is always a threat, I'd have rear mounted mine long ago.

I replaced a cracked header on our Z28 and it was a bitch. There just isn't enough room and my body always cramps up working in tight areas.

Are you going to be able to push 400whp with the rear mount?
