NB1 BEGi FMIC tow hook and undertray mounting problem.
Hey guys,
Any good solutions for mounting the stock tow hooks on the front of an NB1 with BEGi FMIC?
I have thought about purchasing three new longer bolts, and use a crap load of washers to space out the other two mounting bolts (only one per side is used for the FMIC) but I don't think they would fit this way, pretty sure the one side of the two hook actually will hit the FMIC.
Are there aftermarket tow hooks that fit better with the BEGi FMIC? I am interested because after I have completed my road tuning I want to dyno the car... sort of need a tie down point
Can you get the stock undertray to fit by hacking it up a bit? If this works I will make the effort... but I think if I just had a little bit of fabrication skill I could make a new thin sheet metal undertray that would work better. That and some ducting in the nose opening going to the FMIC and radiator would work wonders for air flow. Does the BEGi "air scooper" replace the stock undertray? If so, how well does it work?
Thanks for any help,
Keith

Crap load of views with no replies... nobody with any brains runs a BEGi setup I guess.
I have no idea what to do for the tow hooks, but I ended up hacking up my stock undertray to get it to go around the IC pipes.

I've got the Begi 3" with the safe racer hooks I pulled from my '91track car on my NB1. No fitting issues other than the ac filter/drier had to be bent out some to clear the ic. I think I used the original bolts too.
I didn't intend to use the plastic support thingy.
I'll snap a pic and post later
Nvr mind, after looking at the new fmic, I see your issue. I've got the older version with "notched" end caps that make it easy to mount, but likely restricts internal flow compared to the new ones.

My dyno pulls have always been done with the car strapped down via the suspension arms. You shouldn't need the tow hooks for that.
Spacing things via washers so you can get them mounted is I think unwise. You will be putting large shear forces on those bolts and that's not a good idea.
