I got an e-mail from him the other day saying that my kit would be ready in 2-3 weeks. I believe he makes them in batches.

Stripes 06-14-2007 09:18 AM

Yes, there is still a 3 week wait and I do make these pipes in batches. Sometimes you can get lucky and I'll have one or two in stock.

I am just wondering, I have a lowered miata, does this kit become the new lowest point on the car? Is the Ic and the pipes lower than for example the oil pan and the bumper?

Braineack 07-31-2007 12:44 PM

no, it's pretty much flush with the bottom of the radiator.

nice! then i Just have to establish contact with the company linked on stripes`site for a IC..

CXRacing also sells this intercooler on eBay from time to time:

Sorry you are having trouble contacting this company. They were very responsive when I was buying their intercoolers in bulk. I'll poke around and see if I can find another company that sells this intercooler at a reasonable price.

How did this mounting system work out for you? I like the simplicity of the design. I had a similar idea when I designed my kit, but I was worried the flat aluminum bar would bend over time.

damn beautiful setup!! i might have to pull out my ____'s pipe in exchange for these. i get wayyyy to nervous when i hit a bump cause my pipes hang too low with the starion intercooler. do you think there is any need for a bigger intercooler? i know you mention you pushed 17 psi, was that on this intercooler size?

I was able to order the IC from them off their website probably a month ago no problem.

I have sendt them a new mail now, and then we will se.. I just wanted to get a complete price on the IC and all couplings an clamps plus shipping to Norway.. Norway is far away from all the Miata tuning shops....:sadwavey:

Howewer, what kind of BOV will fit on these IC pipes? Any suggestions anyone?

Isn't a BOV installed on the intake tract and not anywhere on the IC pipes? Someone help me out here.

No that wont help you at all. the point of the BOV is to dump the pressure between the TB and turbo when shifting.

the pipes have I believe a 3/4" bung on them, so you can clamp most BOV on it...almost all BOVs have adapters for hose clamps.

Stripes 07-31-2007 04:27 PM

I weld a 1" inch pipe/bung on the intake manifold pipe for your BOV. All you need is a 1" coupler and two clamps for installation. Like Braineack mentioned, you probably can find an adapter that's roughly 1 inch if you cannot attach your BOV with a coupler and clamps.

i hate to bring an old thread back to life, especially when the pipes aren't in production anymore but...

i was able to get the kit used but w/out instructions. i know they were on the mx5projects site when i was scoping out the kit earlier this year but obviously not anymore. so in order to aid in gathering the couplers i need i was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for the sizes i need. i mean i'll be fine without them, it's simple measuring but to save me the hassle, please?
