hi all i hope you dont mind these questions, im sure you have all heard them before but i find it easier to have all the info in one place, got a few Q's

1. people say to upgrade the greddy supplied bolts/nuts. should i just get the stainless equivalent or are there nuts/bolts i need to replace with studs?

2. the actuator rod, do i just adjust that only enough to stop the rattle?

3. bov. can i use one and if so what type and where do i fit it, i think it goes to the 30-40mm pipe at the throttle body end of the crossover pipe?

1.Stainless doesn't matter get grade 8.8 metric bolts preferably heat treated, my local Ace has them for 2.50 apeice
2. Yes unless you wanna make more boost.
3. You can but do not need to i would leave it out of your build until you understand more about the turbo process. Then you can add it later as it will require some custom modifications.

 

thanks, i think ill just be another one of those guys who thinks he'll be happy with the 'stock' kits boost lol

2. just tighten enough so its closed and doest rattle
3. i bought the etd cross over shown here, ( http://www.etdracing.com/miatatube.html )
came with bov and everything needed

 

But then you have to keep that horrible Greddy ? pipe. Man does that thing kill spool.

ihave heard the stories about the greddy pipe but i would really like to start with the stock kit then change things as i go so i notice the difference, i want it to be a learning process

 

Every bend restricts pressure, and of course builds spool.
I'd change that pipe before putting it on, it is a disastrous design.

 

your stock cross over will be fine for a while. just check it peridically to make shure it dosent blow off the throttlebody

ok heres my next question,

when its all installed is there any need for me to adjust the AFPR?

 

If you have the stock GReddy Vortech FMU, you'll need a disc set to adjust it. The stock disc is 12:1 which is fine for low boost but it'll run pig rich. If you plan to up the boost past 6 psi, you'll need an 8:1 or 6:1 disc which you can order from Vortech.

Better yet, dump the Vortech and pick up a BEGi.

 

so it'll be ok running the 6psi i think it is after i do the actuator rod thing

Sorry guys newbee here.. Was reading your posts and since you guys are talking about greddy what is the most boost that I can get out of a out of a box greddy kit without intercooler...

wow that's pretty good. But I saw this ic made by Jackson racing that is water cooled do you guys recomend that with the greddy kit
