Default an open letter to turbo kit makers: this is where you'll be in 10-years v.v-bands

where AMS was last week. This is a Garrett tr30r which you have to be "special" to get in your hands.

They'll never have to worry about the studs backing out, you don't need special box wrenches to open the turbo up, and did I mention it has v-bands?

Its time to start forging manifolds with v-band couplers and $200-extra TiAL SS housings.

Yes kit makers drive up the prices of your kits to give the jews something to complain about.

y8s it so you get better flow into the turbo and also to mount a filter right on the inlet

Looks pretty, and would certainly make clocking the compressor/turbine easier. From 20 minutes to maybe 5. But I tend to do that...once per turbo setup. Worth the extra cost? Nope. But I would get a "woah.that's.the.*******.****.bitch" from 4 of you. That's priceless.

But for the drag guys that have to disassemble their setup all the time, it's probably worth it no doubt.

FWIW, ATP turbo will machine in a v-band into the turbo exhaust housing so you can just hook the DP right up to it on some of their turbos, and granted you have to run an EWG. I got it done on my 2871 b/c compared to an adaptor plate, it saves you that extra 1-2 inches behind the turbo so you don't need such a sharp bend before the firewall. IIRC, it wasn't much more than an adaptor plate either. Now all the other v-bands in there...can't help you there.

Here's the link for the lazy.... http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=BCS

The reason they had such a small compressor is because they were building a rally car and they were required to 34mm restricter on the car for certain races. Here is the link to the thread and a couple of the dynos with the turbo

TR30R is the official WRC turbocharger. 34mm FIA restrictor to limit hp to ~300 hp, huge compressor and tiny hotside. AMS have to be pretty hooked up at Garrett to get one of those.

OH.

That's a good reason.

And it illustrates why I love my giant compressor inlet. helps with torque dropoff
