So I want a 3 Inch Downpipe... where do i go?
Forgive my "brunette" moment - I thought we were discussing:
"1990 Mazda Miata
Mariner Blue with Hardtop
Greddy Turbo kit 5 psi
Full Exhaust"
The thread you refer to is for a T3 set up.

yes this thread was originally for me... I have ordered a tony DP since the begi hype was bullshit. I have decided that a 3 inch would be perfect if I was running a bigger turbo.... I just dont see why everyone is always up corkys ***. Its annoying the **** out of me. But thanks for all the help I learned a lot in this thread which let me finally go with a 2.5"

The same downpipe did a 16 hp increase over stock on the MSM. I am sure when this car gets dialed in better, the power will be there.

It is just like any other piece that is thrown into the puzzle, the tuning has to be done in order to get the full benefits of the piece. The only thing that I would have liked more is if Corky would make it optional to get a 2.5" turbine outlet instead of the 2.25". Even though the outlet on the turbine is 2.25", I would still like to see if the bigger pipe adds anything, and that is to prove the general consensus wrong (that is me included). Just really curious of what would happen.

I respond to posts such as:
For me at least, it did not go unnoticed that you made the following statement, which I find perfectly logical, and happen to agree with
Was it? We explained from the get go that there are other factors involved. Look at the whole picture please. Look closely at the dyno graphs.

I prefer to just be extremely mean or syrup-y sweet to vendors on a whim...depending on my mood at that precise moment. Keeps 'em on their toes
dude dont even start with flyin miata lol only thing Id consider buying from them are the frame rails. Everything else is over priced junk. Like I said, Its not hatred, but whatever he says I wont just follow like a sheep on miata.net. This downpipe is a good example of how it doesnt do much to a 1.6. I dont own a MSM to get excited so theres no difference for me
brian i noticed you have a 2.5" turboback. I like (borat voice) Mine should be going in soon. Cant wait to get on a dyno with 5 psi and then with a standalone ( even though i still havent decided on one yet)
Thank-you Stephanie and thank-you Corky.
UofACats, I see there is a difference in HP, NOT in engine capacity as I distinguished it earlier. It isn't often though (you have to admit) that a "pissy little 1.6L"
makes 300whp...
For nearly every 1.6 owner on this forum, there will never be a need for a 3" DP. If you want one for your 200hp set-up then I still say loudly that you have your hand on it!
We're all here to boost, lets not fill each others heads with crap like "the guys on the supra forums are doing this". Cause I bet you I could find a forum where all the members are planning a mass suicide. Should we all do that?
Happy boosting!

Not everyone is aiming for 200hp...you gotta keep that in mind too. Supra forums was used as a reference as what size DPs they use on average and my friends GTI was another reference which was a 1.8 Liter with a 3 inch turbo back. I think everyone understands each other and this thread was done but you had to start it up again lol. BTW i love your sig
Ike's car has 2.5" downpipe, stock injectors, stock AFM, stock clutch, straight - 3" dual exhaust, GT2854 turbo. 190 rwhp @8.5 psi.
My car is running a GT2860RS, Xede, 2.75" downpipe, 2.5" Exhaust. 243 rwhp @ 12 psi. I am going to test out a 2.75" dual exhaust for grins, but I really doubt it will stay on. Would I go to a 3" d/p or exhaust? No. It will make my car dump that much more fuel and it is just not practical for me.

Yes, thanks to all who have contributed.
t25: I'm glad you see the difference. The thanks goes to other, more experienced users. You are correct, hardly anyone needs a huge exhaust and will hit 300 wheel on a 1.6. We can all agree it's quite a feat.
I'll leave the rest alone.
2.5" turboback FTW on a 15G! btw my pissy 1.6L might be making more than 300whp in the future (obviously not with this puny 15G) anyways for now I wanna see if i can even handle 250whp lol
