You remember Screamin99, right? IIRC, he was running a 215/40 T1-S when he made his 11.9 pass. The car was dialed back to 12psi at the time (~315hp), but had put down just under 500whp at 24psi.
I think there's a slippery slope with the amount of improvement one will see by running wider and wider tires. At some point it becomes more about judicious throttle modulation than anything else.
With that tired engine boosting 4 pounds, Pai was likely making no more than 120whp. Even decent stock sized tires should have little trouble keeping up with this level of power.

honeydesean, I can't be sure but those look like some wheels that are popular over at clubroadster, I bet they have a 0 offset. If that is the case they are not going to fit with a 225 unless you get some flairs. You could put something like a 195 50 15 and get away with it, or just sell the wheels and get some with a 35-40 offset.
I use 205 50 15 azenis 615's and on dry pavement, with the torsen, I can't spin from a roll in first. That is at 6-7psi t25 intercooled and water injected on a hot day.

fine ive run mine for quite a while with no ill effects 225-50R15 gforce sports just a hair over 24 inches tall and about 30 lbs totall installed the biggest hurdle i found was tire wieght as it is hard to find a sub 20 lbs tire in that size. glad i have 9.5 lbs rims. Trust me honey put them on and go for a drive your car wont rip of body parts and your world will not come to an end.

My rims are a +0, and when they were put on the front of the car, they barely moved past a half turn of the wheel with my tires. But I certainly appreciate your belittling the intelligence of both my brother in law and I.
So if you would please keep all condescending remarks to yourself from now on I don't see why we'll have any problem.

I think this is crazy. My old tires which were horrible ( pretty bald) I spun so bad. I got some 205/50/15 falken ZE512's and I don't get like any wheelspin at all. I can actually use my first gear. I knew I would get much better traction, but thought being at 230 whp would still spin first decent. I was shocked at the difference. The tires are more for higher treadwear than for traction, but it grips like crazy. I raced a R/T charger just the other day from a dig ( didn't drop the clutch just did a quick start) and beat him by around 10 cars. It was awesome.

Well, Before the motor incident, as I stated before, I was boosting 4psi, I had the 14" Daisy, I belive 195/65, Now I have 15 Inch rims, with 195.65 Boosting about 7Ish. With the daisys I was burning them all the way through second, Now with these 15's I dont even get second gear scratch. What a difference. Is something not right? I have no idea. But it seems to be pulling pretty nicely.

It makes a big difference when you have decent tires, thats mainly what it is. Just go easy on that motor for a little bit, if you were boosting to 10 like scott said, you may have been pinging and thats bad stuff for the motor.
