need help with types of turbos
ok, im wanting to buy a turbo for my first gen miata
now here is the question: im going to buy the 1.8 converter and im wondering if the first gen turbos will still work with it??
or what type of kit should i get for it? and i say kit because i do not fully know what to buy so im wanting it in a kit... and im wanting to at least achieve 10 psi
any help on this would be appreciated, plus please throw price tags in there lol

It depends on what kind of miata you're talking about. Is it a v4 front wheel drive or the i6 all wheel drive? Also are we talking about tiptronic torque sensing motec exhaust bearing turbo's or just the regular ol run of mill oil powered ones? Lastly I'd highly recommend you invest in an ebay turbo kit, they are known to be the most reliable and trustworthy of them all. The stock injectors and ecu will easily handle 10psi without any tuning or tweaking, so long as the kit is not intercooled. Intercoolers add way too much variables to the equation.

I"d say buy a book about turbocharging first, that way you can learn more on the subject matter. Also read this thread to learn some more info https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t4288/

Well since I don't post here nearly as much as i troll i'll help you. Your questions are a sure fired way to get a lot of attention quickly. Why? Because you are asking questions which can be answered by simply reading the FAQ or searching the site. A lot of effort went into the FAQ so lets use it. But since the hardest part of searching is using the right terms i'll help you find the FAQ.

Secondly, if you are unsure about what you are doing take the time to research. I don't mean bury your head in import mags hoping that the information that sharing is "complete". I mean actually buy or checkout of the library books on Turbo charging. A favorite that i have read many times is "Maximum Boost" by Corky Bell.
IF you read the FAQ and Maximum Boost and still have questions then you should be here asking them as long as you have taken the time to search. On the other hand if none of this seems like a worthy way to spend time then consider buying this kit.

Need more info, also you will get rapped here if you don't search before you ask a question. It is also good to put your location up because there may be someone close to you that would be willing to meet up with you and help you out in person.

The 1.6L manifold won't work on the 1.8L.
And if you are running a stock motor, I would preferably get something like a GT2560 to GT2871. But the 2554 can be fun, and is more reasonable.
