That is the ETD Manifold on my 91BRG. The original Greddy manifold had serveral cracks. The ETD manifold is a direct replacement of the Greddy manifold. I should have spent the extra money and order the stainless steel version of the manifold, but I just wasn't thinking. The ETD manifold has been on my car for at least 3 years, if not longer, with no problems. I am hoping to pay for the stainless steel version of the downpipe. That downpipe does look sweet. :bigtu:

I think it brings new meaning to the phrase "impress all your friends"

did I sell you that manifold? I bought one back in the day and then got rid of the GReddy kit for a kit skyler made for me.

Oh ok cool, learned something new today :)

Yes, you did and it save me a few dollars. :dancegay: At the time I was contemplating on buying the stainless steel version. Thanks for the good price.

I think the RM went through several stages.

I know the Prototype DP on my old car, and a few after that were really nice pieces. I hear the quality became luck of the draw after a while.

Is it me or does the main downpipe (larger of the two pipes) look smaller than 2.5"? I thought it was supposed to be larger at 2.75" (from the first post in this thread). Hence me and a few others interested in how they fit it...

Otherwise it looks cool. :bigtu: What size is the wastegate pipe?

Racer46 01-30-2007 03:56 PM

According to Stephanie, in a previous post the wastegate pipe is 1.5".

Stephanie Turner 01-30-2007 04:19 PM

The Turbine outlet tube is 2.25".
Wastegate vent tube is 1.5".
Turbine outlet pipe increases in size to 2.5", then the wastegate vent tube is welded in, post- swage.
The flange at the cat is 2.5", so the flange diameters have to match it.

don't know if anyone noticed yet.
$285 mild steel
$385 stainless

Sweet DP. Wish it had been out a year ago.

I am glad I waited to buy a replacement downpipe :bigtu: . I personally like the location of the stock O2 sensor on the BEGi downpipe. It should be easier to change the O2 sensor when required. Now, I am anxiously (sp?) waiting for the return of my 91 BRG with the new stainless steel downpipe.:dancegay:

Mach929 01-31-2007 07:25 AM

will the 2.25"+1.5" pipes flow better than a single 2.5" or will it just be more expensive and complex?

I guess that depends on how much flow comes out the wastegate. You'd think that in a high boost car, less flow goes out the wastegate (to what extent I have no idea). In which case a maybe a bell-mouthed 2.5" pipe would be better than a divorced 2.25"? But having the wategate gases seperate and not creating turbulance is supposed to help. I don't know. I'd guess it comes down to individual downpipe design instead of generic theory. Maybe someone can compare BEGI's with RM/Tony's one after the other.

Either way, both are significantly better than the GReddy pipe. I'd personally try out the BEGI pipe cause it is more up my alley.

My RM downpipe was also a very early piece, and was very nice. I still have it hanging in my basement, but modified to fit a GT25/GT28.

If the good folks from BEGI would like to test Tony's DP against their new one I'd offer mine up since it'll be a couple of months before it goes into the car. They'd would just have to pay shipping both ways on it.

Ben 01-31-2007 08:04 PM

WOW I hope they go for it!

UofACATS 01-31-2007 08:25 PM

Yeah that would be awesome

Ben 01-31-2007 08:30 PM

I'll cover half of the shipping costs :bigtu:
:x:

Actually, sounds like a good idea, but I would like to get my car back soon. :dancegay: I miss driving my 91 BRG. :bigtu:
