wich turbo for my goals and setup
I have been looking for a new turbo seeing how my old one went and im planning on making 300whp to 350whp this summer.
I have a 99 Miata with 323gtx rod Wiseco pistons Arp head studs High volume oil pump Slight port and polish head Gutted intake manifold Cxracing radiator Fm1 turbo kit intercooled Act six puck non sprung hub Link piggy back ecu im going to go standalone once I get a new turbo Aem wideband Forge dv I have been looking at 3 turbo by Garrett the gt2876r the gt3071r and the gt3076r. I have been using this Compressor Flow Map Calculations CFM Calculations it gives you cfm and lb/min . 1.8l 90% 23psi 8000 rpm redline so let me know what turbo you guys think will work best. |

Why the fuck do you need to rev to 8000rpm on a car that should make gobs of power by 4k? |
the red line is going to be 7500 but i want a 8k redline for track and lower boost.
and i know every one here hates me but its what ever at this point they help they help they dont they dont |
Well i make 300 by 7000 with a measly gt2560r. If I were to go bigger I'd only go with a 2871. I love the instant torque I have and wouldn't want to give that up too much.

Ya your car is crazy I wish I had your exhaust and intake manifold people tell me that’s why your setup makes the numbers it does im thinking of getting that intake manifold once I get the new turbo and standalone.

on a dynojet my car would make about 290whp and 280wtq at 4k...you definitely need a bigger turbo.

o just to add im planning to running 15-17 psi untill i get standalone and then i should be running 20-23psi and then i want to run 25-28psi on race fuel =]

Hmmm... going to a bigger turbo will simply put the weak link in your current setup somewhere else. Guys shooting for that kind of power usually start their build over from scratch. If I were you, I'd ditch everything you've got now and start over with an S4/ETD/Absurdflow mani, full 3" turboback, and EXG.
I don't know how many guys make 350whp with an FM1 manifold... not many. You're gonna have a helluva time controlling that amount of boost with IWG. You'd be SOOOO much better off going to a higher flowing setup overall. I don't know what the rating is for the standard FM1 intercooler, but conventional wisdom would think it's too small. |

On a serious note now that I've got your attention...aren't you're boost level goals just a wee nipply bit high? Ever notice not too many people here push beyond the 18psi range, even on built motors? Ever plotted lines on a compressor flow map? If not, please learn how to do so now. This will prove to you, that nearly regardless of wich turbo we guide you towards, you will not have decent boost before 4500rpm while still able to maintain respectable efficiency at those kind of boost levels near redline -especially at your planned redline-. I could turn my little turbo up to 20psi if I so wished, but I'm not going to. Why? Because at anything above 10psi it falls flat on it's face in terms of efficiency for volume of air moved above about 5500rpm. This is because it was designed to produced respectable pressure efficiently at lower volumetric flow rates. This means it spools low down, but you can't push it up top. Great for autocrossing, and around town driving. Not a drag racing turbo. So what are your goals really. Gonna race? Want to slay everything you pull up next to on the highway? Want to build a single minded 1/4mile burner? Want a balanced backroad burner? A yes to each one of those would lead you in a different direction, and mean you need to talk to (or read post history) for a different group of members here. Right now I get the impression you're just pulling numbers out of your ass that you think sound cool and will slay on a dyno. While dyno tuning is great, and posting big numbers is great, you have to drive the thing, so think about what you really want, and get back to us. |

I heir what your saying about the manifold and intercooler and I am going to be going external wastegate but im using this housing to do so with out having to change the manifold http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/me...egory_Code=GTH Im going to keep the manifold and intercooler I have now and see what I make on them. If I do end up need to change them to make more power I will. Ill be happy with 320whp on pump and what ever I can make on race. |

I don’t have any plans for auto crossing mostly a highway monster and a good car to go to the drag track and pull some good number nothing crazy I want to run high 11.s and low to mid 12.s. I have been reading up on plotting and from what I have found with the CFM calculator. The gt2876r would work for the amount of boost I want to run I think im not sure if I did it wrong but im sure I did it right from what I have read. I know the psi I want is high but I don’t see why people here don’t like to run 20psi I never seen why people don’t. |

DIAF p.s. no matter what you buy, it will most likely have a shitty tune and be slower than lower hp cars, virgin. |

I was told that the 323gtx rods were good and plus I got them for 100 bucks off a friend.
