well your not alone brother. My first was a 1990 short nose crank that I had a FMII installed, yes I paid someone else, Clint Host out of Houston.. great guy by the way. I could not ever get it to run right, and sold the car and got FM pissed off at me.

bought 97 stayed N/A will all the useless mods, and eventually sold it.

Bought my present 10AE. I ordered a FMII and then canceled the order, which FM then black listed me. I canceled cuz I had no patience and then...........I then bought a coldside from Tom with FFS, Tom is a good person, I don't know enough to comment on the engineering part of how his kit was designed, but from my personal experience in Dallas, on 93 oct and hot outside I would get pinging @ upper RPM range. At this time there was no timing control available for a 99 and this kit that I actually installed mysel took off & sold in a matter of hours. No disrespect to FFS, had remarkable OEM smooth feel but not much torque. Yes 190 rwhp but only 152 ft lbs of tq. Just not enough torque to satisfy my "need for speed"

Now, I bought a S4 from Corky as I am only 250 miles from their shop, and they had a special going on and only $500.00 for install. No brainer for this dumbass so I had them install it, found a used Xede, and now my little GT2560 does spool super fast with the SST mani. and fast enough to satisfy this ol fart. BEGI family are good folks. I got to meet them, which was good as sometimes I may appear squirrly on the forum..and I am really not. *I will share this with you, I think squirrels in general are planning to take over the world. Notice as you walk by them, they are always looking at you?

anyway,

of course my spec 2 clutch could not hold up on the torque, and as we speak I am having new ACT HD clutch put in. Not much on dropping trans in my garage.
Now the 3rd gens are catching my eye, omg... but I think I will stick with my 10AE for awhile. At least until I learn how to tune the damn thing.
So Urban Soot I am 50 years of age, and probably somewhat older but not any wiser... and don't feel like the Lone Ranger

I luv driving my car under boost... , passing someone at 120 miles an hour and getting a glimps of their face in my rear view mirror. Lets face it were fricking adrenaline junkies.
Be safe.

Congrats on your... I guess this is the 3rd option you have tried with this build? Dibs on the DP when you part.

So you have 3 turbos sitting around now and an almost complete DIY setup, where is the epic FS thread?

And go on aim you asstwat.

And sam, he had a turbo specialties kit on the last miata for something like 200 miles.

I was on chemo when I took my car to Corky, and install was only $500.00. I was so sick... they wanted to call an ambulance to ride back home in. No ****. Or I probably would have done the install myself, but still just $500.00 hell my time is worth money as I am sure so is yours.

I did the install on the FFS coldside, and I learned about my engine. I learned that takinig the intake manifold off was a royal **** pain in the ***, and worse when I pulled my blower and had to put it back on. As we speak I am installing my Teins / Bilstiens as I certainly would not want to pay someone to do that. So.. I am willing to get in there and get my hands dirty. As in the check book racer comment your partially correct. I have the check book (actually just use CC) but I dont know how to race.....

I would I guess actually have to take some track lessons...learn from the pros and pay them with a check, and then could somewhat be considered somewhat a "check book racer" I guess right now it I am just a "check book racer wanna be" >>>>> hey that's funny!

**** to much coffee in the morning can ya'll tell ? but you see I am coming out of my shell. I am opening up, and "sharing" aint that sweet?

{see below]

COMPRESSION RESULTS:
#1 185
#2 180
#3 180
#4 185
LEAKDOWN TEST:
#1 12%
#2 20%
#3 15%
#4 14%

I am not far away from a motor build... I will pull my motor and send the block probably to JC automotive in Round Rock TX., as thats who BEGI uses for their engine rebuilds. Hey! BJ you can come over and help me pull it, and we can see what your really made of.

So... after the clutch break in, I am going to up the boost to at least 13 psi. Sorry for the diarea of the key board and have a nice day
