Default 2006 NC1 Time Attack Build

Hi all!

Contrary to my username, I do not own my mazdaspeed miata anymore. Some of you may remember that car. It was featured on The Smoking Tire years ago.

I have owned many miatas and have had this 2006 NC1 since 2019. It has many modifications done to it, with a host of Supermiata parts including their XIDAS. Front and rear aero (which needs some improvement) 17x10 RPF1s and more notably the engine is a 2.5L Duratec with some higher compression off-the-shelf 2.4L LE5 Ecotec pistons, FAB9 Stage 2 camshafts 280/272, Long tube headers and E85.

It recently went to the dyno and made 208whp and 190tq.

Yo dude! Welcome to the forum. I remember your MSM from that video back in the day, never knew you were the same guy with the NC (who I've also seen around). Welcome to the group, you should start a build thread for that sick NC you have! We love track cars and that thing looks DIALED!

I was going to say, isn't this the guy Mitch and Zak run around with? 10 years, 3 posts, 5 cats... great ratio

First track day back with the new engine set up went great!. I was bummed at the beginning knowing the day was going to be warm, but realized its gotta be this way to see what the engine can handle with no oil cooler setup at the moment. Temps stayed great, consistently was around 185-195.

I went with no hopes of a track record, as my A052s are pretty well worn from last season from MTTC. But was able to get a 1:26 in the first session at Streets of Willow W/Kink and Short Skid Pad.

Nice dude, great time for sure! I want to see the vid with the kink as well. That thing's gotta add at least a couple seconds to the regular layout.

Go Pro was messed up and did the linear + horizon stabilizing, so the 1:26 video is a bust,
but here is a lap with the meta glasses that a smashed into my helmet (don't recommend )

So imagine its a 1:26 lap haha

Meta footage isn’t too bad actually! Especially considering how dang tiny they are compared to a standard action cam.

Also I see you’re still running a 7,500rpm redline. Diabolical hahaha.

I dig the meta footie, gives a cool POV feel. Awesome lap man, the NC really is the pinnacle of track Miata when setup like yours. Actually makes me jealous a bit.

Hilarious apology to the NA driver but he had it comin

That NC is seriously dialed in ̬ 208whp in a lightweight track-focused setup with the 2.5 swap, cams, E85, aero, and XIDAS sounds like an absolute weapon at Streets. The fact that it stayed cool tbs bearing without an oil cooler while putting down a 1:26 says a lot about how well sorted the setup is, and honestly the car looks like the perfect balance between raw track performance and reliability. Also, props for keeping the 7,500rpm redline alive ̶ that̻s the kind of confidence in your build, tuning, and engine thrust bearings that separates a properly developed track car from a slapped-together dyno queen.

I'm still trying to understand what there is to be gained by whoever is making these AI-generated posts.

Since I'm already here, though, Mitch grabbed some tires off me this past weekend. We're hoping to link up for a track day again sometime soon! I'm gonna bug the sh*t outta him to let me take a lap in this thing lol.

It's spam with some link in the comment.

Search Engine Optimization.

They always insert a few links, sometimes hidden, to a 3rd party website.

The way that search engine algorithms work, the more links which exist to a given website, the higher that website is ranked. It's an old concept dating back to the era of webrings.
