This statement makes zero sense. The Quaife WR ratios (1.67/1.28/1.0/.79) are virtually identical to the 6-speed ratios (1.65/1.26/1/.84). If anything, they are a slight improvement, since they give the same excellent 3-4-5 ratios that the 6-speed provides along with a taller 6th gear. I fail to see how the 6sp ratios are "silly" but the Quaife ratios aren't.

The 5-speed ratios, OTOH, are absolute garbage - a useless 2nd gear for high-powered cars leaves 3 usable ratios instead of 4.

Theseus is getting a Quaife wide-ratio 5sp with a 3.63 gearset.

Something is wrong with your gearing calculator. 6 speed with a 3.636 will do 65 mph at 8000 rpm I was bouncing off the 8000 rpm rev limiter at two locations on the autocross course last weekend but not for long enough to warrant a shift to 3rd. A Quaife wide ratio with a 4:10 will do 78 mph in second. As will a stock 5 speed with a 3.636.
