After the switch, we never had an issue again.

We really had a devil of a time figuring out what was happening at first though. Clean fuel filters every time, even down to some pretty low micron stuff, with multiple filters in series, and yet the screens in the injectors would all get gummed up where the dissolved plastic from the foam would come out of solution.
Interesting. Especially that it would somehow get through several filters. I wonder what made it precipitate out.

At the time I was drag racing the miata and experiencing starvation below a certain fuel level. Dual in-tank walbros. At some point I upgraded my fuel system with an external aeromotive a1000 pump, so I decided to bulletproof things by going with a surge tank to keep the a1000 fed and happy.

Does everyone just run a standard tank then? Noone found the need or seen any available gain from fitting a cell?

Your issue was the dual walbros. Miatas are very picky about the pickup location and fuel sock design.

In my experience, the only people who run foam or surge tanks are those who have tried to alter the in-tank pump setup and inadvertently moved the fuel sock, either by using an aftermarket sock or hanging the pump differently. If you use a pump like a dw300 with a factory sock you can support 600+whp on gasoline without inducing fuel starve.

Yea that's very possibly the case, but I do like the badass-ness of my current fuel system and it supports 600-800hp+ as it sits.
