A lightweight alternator would be for weight only, as the load is variable based on the electricity needed. In other words, the alternator spins more freely when less electricity is needed. That said, has anyone underdriven their alternator, or is there a need?

Got data logs of the voltage going to the ignition coils, etc. when the EPS is under heavy load? If that EPS hits 40 amps with some wide and sticky hoosiers the rest of your electrical system (ignition, ABS pump, etc.) won't be too happy about it.

I have to believe if you build it they will come.

Some internetting found this; https://www.ebay.com/i/382676201831?chn=ps

But it replaces the crank pulley, and seemingly deletes the harmonic dampener.

Mmmmm yes. Short nose? Long Nose? They'll all die.

Can't tell if the WP or alternator pullies in that kit are oversized at all, kinda looks like not

Isn't the Fluidampr the easy way to do this? Along with the minor benefit of stopping your oil pump from exploding.

I believe the Fluidampr is the stock diameter, no underdrive effect.

Just bolted on a Powermaster 8178. It's 5.74lbs, as opposed to 10.63lbs for an NA8 alternator. Still need to make a pulley/tensioner setup.

Easy button for random lightweight alternators: ultralight end link tensioner. Especially nice with L/R threaded ends.

Prototype Supermiata little volt kit?

Tensioner solution looks neat. Is that alternator internally regulated?

Ah, you found the expensive and harder to mount version of the susuki alternator.

And yes, many things worked fine on my car. Until I let Chang drive it it was more reliable than an STS car, 2 years no missed runs. Charging system was never an issue. And neither was system voltage.
