Default Race Capture install and gauge calibration questions

Hey Guys,

I tried posting this in the ECU and tuning and got Zero answers. Because its for preping our race car I figured I would repost here.

I was hoping someone could either clue me in or post what they know about The voltage outputs specific to the 1.6 Miata. I need them so I can program the Race Capture Pro that we are installing this weekend. I have the Fuel gauge voltage ranges and translation but need Oil pressure (I have the real sensor and not a dummy gauge), engine temp, tachometer, and anything else you guys can think of that the 1.6 ecu collects.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

You can start with a calibration file from a Nemesis or Megasquirt and get the sensor cal data from them. I believe there are a few posted on the forum. Remember that the engine temp will vary with the pullup resistor, so you may have to recalculate and with the RCP you need to have their pullup board for a thermistor.

Thanks for the intel. I am not wiring savvy at all. I'm going to start with a remote aftermarket sensor in the return hose (quick and dirty, race is next weekend). Not the most accurate thing but at least it will tell me if we are over heating.

I got the rcp powered up today, gps is working, I ran wires to the back of the gauge cluster in preparation to grab signal for the tach and fuel. Tomorrow I'm going to wire those in. Then get the oil pressure and coolant temp.

Does anyone know what the thread pitch on the back of head is for the temp gauge sensor? If I can replace it with an aftermarket AEM 1/8" npt 5v sensor, I want to.

ill update with pictures and progress tomorrow.

Piggyback off the stock temp sensor with no pullup resistor in the RCP circuit. No need to buy the AEM sensor. I say this while having said sensor for sale... https://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/3192

Nice! So just splice to the pin on the back of the cluster? What are the analog settings in the app?

Splice wherever along wire run. Use sealed butt connections or unsealed butt connections then adhesive lined shrink. My RCP is in my 240SX w/1UZ motor and Miata is Nemesis, so I don't have values you can simply enter. You can determine through empirical measurement or get by pulling cal data from Megasquirt / Nemesis and calculating with stock pullup resistor.
