Happy New Year to All.

I plan to remove the carpet and some other bits and pieces now that I'm trailering the car to events. Do any of you put something down in the footwell once the carpet and underlayment are gone?

Ive never seen a trailered race car with carpet, just bare metal floorboard. I have seen people apply skateboard grip tape on the floor as well for traction

Truck bed liner (the professionally-applied stuff) is lightweight, grippy and durable. I've heard of folks dropping their car off at a shop which applies it, slipping the guy $50, and saying "Hey, the next time you've got a batch mixed up, would you mind squirting the last little bit of it down here?"

Put something grippy. Racing or HPDE, you crashed. That grip could be the extra split second that saves you, should a fire have occurred.

I believe I will try a can of bedliner. I shouldn't need much.

If you DIY, splurge for the "good" aerosol Bedliner, think the Raptor brand is available in auto parts stores.

The cheaper cans are OK with good prep but wear quickly

I haven't checked my local parts stores or hardware store yet, but a quick glance through Amazon shows a couple of vendors offering quart jars of brush/roll on liner.

I considered this (bed liner) but worried that once it wears and gets grubby it would be a nightmare to remove and redo?

I ended up using adhesive boat grip pads. Black or grey.
