Relatively small amounts of driving like that aren't going to make a difference IMO. If the car isn't stored outside all the time it's probably not an issue. I'd wager leaving the wheels on with the car stored outside causes more problems for tires like these compared to occasional street use.

With that said I drove around fine on the RC-1s, although having tracked them in damp conditions it's not something I'd want on the car to conquer CA freeways in the rain.

I've put 1000-1500 street miles and 7-8 autocross events on my 245's since January. They ride pretty nicely but they can be a little twitchy at highway speeds. I haven't driven with them in the rain, and don't plan on it, but I did take them out once to get some groceries when it was damp out and they were fun. If I were under your circumstances I'd just run them.

ozbrock I was actually considering messaging you about the tires because I saw you using them from the other RC1 thread.

With that being said I will just commit to these tires and hope they last me a year or so. Thanks for all the feedback guys!

As long as it isn't super rainy where you live (like Seattle), you'll be fine.

I've run Hoosiers on the track in the damp and caught a mid session/race shower. I'm still alive. Currently my miata has a heatcycled set of 275 R6's on 15x9's on it (I use 15x10's A6's for autox). I won't intentionally drive it to work on a rainy day, but driving home in the rain is the least of worries (planning to leave the hardtop at home most of the summer).

I also plan on driving on the A6's to local autox's.

Just slow down if it rains and be cautious. They will heatcycle more than wear, but it won't be huge for hpde or local autox unless you are shooting for top pax or something.

I have a friend who just bought a car that had BFG R1's on it(out of state sale). He took it to get inspected and failed because of the R1's. The tech told him that the tread wears fast enough that the tires quickly drop below the 2/32nds required to pass inspection. Something to think about.

That's dumb. If it's at the safe level when inspected then it should pass. That's like someone coming in with a Mitsubishi and the tech saying "It's not billowing blue smoke now, but being a Mitsubishi, I'm sure it will be shortly, so you fail."

The tech claimed they were below 2/32nds.
