I've been happy with my GForce cam lock harnesses. 5pt instead of 6pt, but I think I paid ~$300 shipped for 2 harnesses new.

Buy 4 of these bolts:

Harness Mounting Hardware - Sabelt Harness Hardware- 7/16 Inch Eye Bolt

They screw right into the factory seat belt points.

And a pic I've stolen from a thread I started on GRM about this, on where to mount the sub belt. Pop up the access panel and drill a hole.

Buy crow over GForce. I despise the GForce cam locks actual cam locking bit. I've had them for me and seen them for others get stuck in the open and closed positions. Sure a bit of jiggaling normally fixes it, but a couple seconds of jiggaling while you're panicking in a burning car is a long ass time. Though I've only had experience with GForce cam locks that were on out of date webbing or on the 2nd set of webbing and had been bounced off the pavement many times in practice escapes.

Good to know. Although I haven't had any problems in ~500 street miles and 15+ sessions on track.

I'd like to eventually buy some nicer harnesses, but I wanted to get on track before the end of the season last year.

Seefo 03-05-2013 03:14 PM

I have Scroth Profi. Its very nice, only complaint I have is the shoulder adjuster was a bit finicky when new.

Chilicharger665 03-05-2013 03:26 PM

Well the deposit was placed on the 01, so now all I have to do is go get it this weekend. I ordered a blizzard of more maintenance parts today and if they get here in time I should have a decently prepped miata for my track day. I'm out of money, so I will save the harnesses for another day.

You know what looks good on an '01 LS?

A tire trailer!
Edit: FM's hidden hitch works good. 10lbs in the back to balance the future intercooler in the front!

I have a Simpson and I like them, next time I'm buying Crow. I'd buy Safecraft but they are just too expensive. However, they are the nicest harness I've ever seen.

...the purple Crow harness looks badass:

TS-67 1 Spare Tire Holder For 4.80 Trailer Tires $12.60
TS-68E 1 Front Stand For 832t Trailer, Item Code: TS-68E $21.00

I prefer the kickstand to any of the wheeled options for a trailer this small.

I picked up the 01 a little bit ago. The only problem it has is some water damage on the top. It also has a bit of standing water in the battery well area. I removed the trunk panels but I couldnt find where it would be coming from. Ive never had to do it on my other miatas but Im betting those top water drains are plugged up. Its been raining very heavily in Oklahoma all day so I need to try to unplug them before I head home. Anybody got some cheap DIY tips to get them unplugged quickly?

Find a metal coat hanger and stretch it out and push it down the drain hole on either side of the top behind the seats.

sixshooter 03-09-2013 09:18 PM

Trunk water? Mine was a cracked rain rail at the base of the top under the rear window.

mr_hyde 03-09-2013 11:02 PM

None of this is a deal breaker. A new rain rail isn't much and can be installed in a few hours.

Mobius 03-10-2013 02:38 PM

If you use a coat hanger, bend the end over back against itself so you are pushing a blunt end through. Wrap some duck tape around the bent over section to keep the edge from catching.

Chilicharger665 03-14-2013 07:28 PM

I ended up using some stiff electrical wire with rubber sheathing over it. Worked absolutely perfectly and now I keep it curled up in the spare tire well to be used whenever. They were completely clogged up from top to bottom with leaves, dirt and who knows what else. I cleaned them out really well and then poured water down them and left nasty black puddles in the garage. Oh well, now I know they are clean! It took me 14 hours to install the M2 Sport DD roll bar and I also put on some 15x8 Enkei PF01's with 205/50 Bridgestone RE11's. I honestly enjoy driving this car MUCH more than my MSM just because it has an ECU that isn't fucking retarded and the RE11's allow me to corner ridiculously fast. The seating position I have to assume to avoid having the rollbar anywhere near my head is pretty uncomfortable though. I should probably start a build thread now because I have a lot more parts coming in soon.

Scrappy Jack 03-14-2013 08:14 PM

I am absolutely speechless.

Best thread of the year.

Edit:

Chili: "Hey guys, how should I prep my really clean MSM for more track day success?"

Trubo.net: "You should sell that and track a non-turbo NB."

Chili: "Hey guys, I drove several hundred miles to pick up a decent NB to track. I think the roof drains are plugged."

Trubo.net: "Simple fix, do this."

Chili: "Hey guys, I fixed the roof drains. And installed a rollbar and some wheels."

That's basically unheard of.

No. This is not good.

This .. this is almost beyond the realm of possiblity

Although, I must say, we (mt.net) have deprived ourselves of the reality show that would be: "Chilicharger's Epic MSM Track Adventures."
Episode 1 - The Bog!!
Episode 2 - My Calipers Are Flexing And My Pads Are Wearing Out !!!
Episode 3 - OMG the 4.1 Diff And Low Redline Whyyyyyyyy !!!
Episode 4 - Dude This Intercooler And Turbo Suck - Going EFR and Big Boy !!
Episode 5 - I Have Spent So Much Money On This Car I Could Have An EFR NB2 With Teh VVTz That Would Kick Its Ass By Now !!!
Episode 6 - The Part-Out

Best. Noob. Ever! Chili should get his own smiley.
