Epic ducting courtesy of Hustler

Went out to Hustlers place yesterday and he put in my radiator and ducting the shit out of it. Sadly the TSE rad routing wont work with a FM kit without a reroute so we didnt get the car all wrapped up. I needed the reroute anyhow. We also struck out on the oil cooler because the fittings were the wrong type for my sandwich plate. My massive setrab cooler is also too large so ive got to get a smaller one from BAT Inc to get the car wrapped up. Thanks Trey! I'll get better pics later, the wife loaned my DSLR to a friend of hers. These are crappy cell pics.

What silver tape you use? Every kind I seems to find sucks, doesn't stick well, or comes apart.
|
I use the foil stuff from home depot motorsports with the paper backing you peel right before application. Very sticky and handles heat great. Only downside is it will tear easily if met with something sharp.
|
It tears easily no matter what. At the joints because of the vibration it will rip up in no time. There is thicker stuff of the same stuff. Works much better but u gotta buy it online.

More pics of the top of the intercooler to the top of the rad?
How is the top of the radiator ducted? I need to do this stuff in the spring. |
Very cool, Thanks for sharing. What stuff did masta Hustler use for the ducting? (the black stuff)
|
the black stuff is plastic i bought from day motorsports here in tyler.
Day Motor Sports - ROLL PLASTIC - PL-24 I'll get better pics when i get my decent camera back. hustler bent the plastic to slip under the aluminum header at the top of that TSE radiator so it sort of secures itself with help from the slots where the intercooler bracket comes through. i don't know what tape hustler used. probably the home depot stuff. if you worry about it ripping, day has some incredibly sticky duct tape ive used that is completely unaffected by heat and vibration. sort of like racer tape, ive used it to block off the intakes on my car and it held up to turbo temps where that black plastic was starting to melt. |
Any more pics? This will be one of the first projects on the list.
|
yeah that tape sucks, i did my vmount ducting with it, both the rad and intercooler are mounted rigid on the fame frame and just from vibration it ripped

Yours is an NA, mine is an NB and the FM11 stuff was fine with TSE rad., no problems. Wonder what the diff. is?

This is my 3rd attempt, I'm getting better. I need to do the daily soon, I lack the energy to redo it on my track car.

105*f summers, a cooling system full of oil, and he's never run the TSE radiator. It's foolish to waste the tow-rig fuel getting to the track another day if the heat exchangers aren't ducted...are we really going to debate this shit again? If we do, I'll commence with the power banning. Consequences will never be the same.
Walking helmet. I don't want him to fall and hit his soft-spot. |
So wrong.
