Also thanks for posting this up Tuna, I've got a 1.6 head on the bench now that I'm working on a gameplan for.. |
Nobody likes the Tuna here.
I think what Chris means is: There is MAYBE 3 or 4 runs a year when someone sits in the passenger seat of my car. And the Kirkey seat is bolted directly to the floor and isn't braced. So it tends to move just a little bit. He apparently was a little concerned about pulling 1.5+g in a loose seat with only a lap belt :) |

But the kirkey flexes just right. Unless yours is a hole saw special, which is how my passenger seat might end up.

And thanks to some jerks in CSP that were using questionable drivers seats, kart seats and milk crates are not considered legal seats, even for the passenger seat.

Not CSP.. STS, and it was one of our local drivers that tried that at nationals pre seat weight rule. I think it was deemed legal at the time, but the rule was changed pretty quickly after that. It was in the car that Steve Rife now drives.

Here is a video of the Sunday course at Summer Nationals. I forgot to put the memory card in the Racekeeper for Saturday.

That car sounds nasty. :eek3:

pulling G's like they're goin outa style

Wow, the first half of that course seemed kinda painful.(though you drove it well.) The car looks like it's handling well.

The first half was a little tough. You had to be VERY patient with the throttle. But the second half of the course was SO much fun. I love the courses we get at Blytheville. I still have so much to learn about this sport though. It's amazing how hard it actually is. I have road raced (W2W) for a few years and thought that would give me a good base for this. But Auto X at this level is SO much harder. The courses are always different, you only get 3 runs on each course AND the first time you get to drive on the course is in competition. All that said I feel like the car is handling great now. I was struggling with some issues on turn in which have been fixed. I feel like the rear is very planted and the car puts power down very well and I have confidence now that when I tell the car to do something...it will do it.
At the Pro Solo I was struggling with the car. It was making some god awful noises from the rear, it was snap over steering and just generally driving like ass. I got under the car to see what was going on back there and this is what I found. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1373497634 Anyway. I have a lot of work to do before Nationals and am getting the build list together for the winter. Winter plans include a bigger badder blower, another 75-100hp and a Jerico 4 speed. |
Jericho for lightness, robustness or gearing?
another 100hp, and you might be needing an 8.8" under that! |
