Factory OEM aero package worth anything on the track or just unnecessary weigt?h
i have an 02 SE with the full aero package like the one below. I bought it for the 6 speed, torsen, ABS, sport brakes, VVT, etc, not the aero or the yellow color. Should I remove the side skirts? Do they do anything for aero or are they strictly for looks and some additional un-needed weight?

You really need to search man. Both your strut tower brace question and this one were discussed in detail.
In fact Emilio himself (who you referred to in the other thread) answered the stb question. Give it a try. Search. If you seriously still can't find it afterwards, I'll link you to the discussions. |

I searched and didn't find anything! M Adams, you're running it on track, so I would assume those side sills are functional. I would leave on the front airdam and rear trunk spoiler, but the sills and rear wheel "mud flaps" is what I was wondering about.
As far as being a NOOB I had my first Miata, a 90, in 91, probably before most of the guys on this site had their drivers licenses. |
:drama:
Oh dear, someone is trying to poke the honeybadger with a stick. But the honeybadger don't care! |

Neither does the tiny lip on the trunk. The front lip may have some effect, though very minor I'm sure.. Basically they all do nothing, if you're looking for legit aero effects, buy/build legit aero equipment. |
Thank you M Adamovits
That Honey Badger video is very funny Blaen! |
If you are going to sell ur side skirts lmk i have cash and would pick them up asap!
|
Sell me the front lip. I have a Canadian 2002 SE Yellow and they only came with mud flaps, nothing else at all for body add ons. - But I did get a Hard Top, yeehaw!
|
trade you my aero package for your hard top heheh
|
Ha, I think the HT I have is pretty rare in that color. It does look good. You should try black with black A-Pillars, might look ok.

That is my post. 18PSI means in a previous post that I have yet to find
|
I'm confident that the aero package does very little. Perhaps the front lip nets you something positive, but at stock power levels, that rear spoiler does more harm than good.
|
I think he posted it in crushers build thread or one of their track threads.

Link for the lazy please. |
I distinctly remember emilio stating he ran the large front tupperware on an nb2 because its wider, so it blocks more air from hitting the front tires. No I wont look it up.

So the side sills, rear spoiler, and the mud flap thingy behind the rear wheels, do nothing that helps on track. They only add weight, and for some, improve appearance
|
Yes. BTW if you have the large sideskirts, those look fucking terrible.
