Default Funny/sad HPDE story

Gents,
I signed up to drive with Rezoom at VIR last weekend. It was hot and humid. Heat index was 117 on Sunday. At the driver's meeting Saturday morn, someone asked if he could drive with his top down. The two head Rezoom guys were adamant that if the top were down, he and the car would have to pass the broomstick test. Nobody said anything.

Common knowledge how stout, and crush resistant those soft tops really are!

In the SCCA Track night in America events I've run at NJMP, the requirement is that the top is down. From talking with TNiA officials, it seems to be a track-specific thing, not one of their rules.

Not that they check the broomstick rule during tech anyway.

I run with my top up, but my organization doesn't do the broomstick test either. They do require a roll bar make you sign a waiver stating "drive a convertible at your own risk."
I pass the broomstick test in my car because I like my head, but to each their own I suppose.
